Default What would topps do about this?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2017-TOPPS-...19.m1438.l2649

I bid on this last night(didn't win)...Assuming Topps doesn't have a ton of these around and couldn't replace with a card that has the auto...would they just send you out a Fisher sticker to slap on that bad boy or do you think it would be some Owens/Musgrove/Gsellman/Cotton abortion?

It would be a nice bargain if they could replace.

I was more wondering if someone made a bunch of customs they are trying to sell. I found one with Ted Williams on it missing the auto. Pretty sure Ted is not signing anything.

There was a Yoan Moncada like that listed as well.

Guess I could've called topps and asked what the policy was, maybe could have been more aggressive on the bidding if they promised a replacement that was juicy

I seriously doubt they are real. Why wouldn't the seller have called Topps especially when there are Aaron Judge versions being sold. That would be leaving a ton of cash on the table.

I don't think Topps would replace if these cards were essentially backdoored.

one of guys on one of the facebook baseball card groups pulled like 6 of these from a box recently. i don't think they are fakes. they seem to be popping up now. i think a few others pulled one here and there.

Hello all, first time poster here.

This is why I actually just signed up actually, well partially. I wanted to learn more about these. I've seen them from numerous different ebay sellers now. I bought 2 different Judges a couple weeks ago and a Jeter. I have the cards in hand and they definitely look completely legit. I was hoping people would know more on the story of these. Conspiracy theories are fine too!

The seller I bought from earlier said they were pack pulled too from one box when he broke a few cases.

They may end up being worth a lot if there are just a handful though right?

Maybe maybe not. There was a guy on here who had an unsigned Alex Rodriguez Superfractor and he thought it was worth a lot of money.

Amazingly enough it seems as the ones sold on Ebay are from only 3 different sellers. Also amazingly they are all Harper, Trout, Kershaw......
Gonna take a guess that these are fake as it gets.

I paid 49.99 a piece for each of the 3.

There's another seller who has just one listed now (Kyle Lewis Pro Debut) for 149.99

Looking at them in hand they are spot on perfect quality, identical to the regular topps. Only differences is line of text on front and line of small text on back. Plus they all also have the signature area color-faded out like on other normal Topps certified auto issues.

Did anyone else see the Ted Williams non auto error from ebay that recently sold?

I can't figure that one out at all. If they were just outright fakes, which I can't see being the case given the identical quality of these cards, I'd think even a counterfeiter would know that Topps wouldn't make an autograph card of Ted Williams now (meant to be on card anyway). Anyone with any knowledge of baseball knows he's been gone for quite some time!

As I was typing this I saw there was also a Roberto Clemente one on ebay. I just bought it BIN

Here’s what Topps replied to me when I inquired about these cards.

Sorry for bumping old thread, but does the last post show that Topps is acknowledging that these are Topps produced error cards?

It certainly seems that way.

From the wayback machine, was there a checklist of which 2017 Topps Update cards had this error?
