What?! Are you sure that's not a mixup with the Andy Marte story?

It's drunk driving everywhere in America too.

It had nothing to do with DR

Not true. That is one of the most dangerous places in the world to drive. I believe the most dangerous on the entire western hemisphere, or very close to it.

My buddy who is Dominican born and visits often tells me the roads are terrible. Many are windy with no signage. True it can happen anywhere but the conditions are generally worse there.

I've been to the D.R. 3 times in the last 4 years on golf trips. It's very safe place to visit. I didn't witness a "war zone" or citizens acting crazy.

Terrible news about Ventura

The roads down there are horrible. Even the paved roads are brutal to drive on because they aren't maintained. That being said it's horrible when anyone dies this young. RIP

I agree it's not a war zone or anywhere close to that, I was there a couple years ago and it's fine but people do drive pretty crazy down there, there's no control at stop signs and intersections in cities that I was in. Cars and motorbikes pushing their way through everything.

Depends where you go down there, had a former co worker get married down there. Some parts of the Island are beautiful, but lot of areas are terrible...

Those are just tourist areas not the real country.
It's like people going to Mexico and saying it's great...yeah a resort is great. Most of US is already a crap hole let alone Latino countries.

I've also been to 2 different golf factories in the country as well which are far from tourist areas.
The DR is far from a war zone. Overall a very nice country which is quite safe for travel whether
business or pleasure.

Ugh.

Yordano Ventura pitched the best game of his career while paying tribute to Oscar Taveras, who died in a car accident. Now this. Brutal.
