Sounds like it is the Mariners.

Santana to CLE and Encarnacion to Seattle.

Encarnacion to #Mariners, Carlos Santana to #Indians in three-team trade, sources tell The Athletic. #Rays also involved, getting player from CLE. First: @jonheyma

Infielder Yandy Diaz is going to the Rays, who’ll send first baseman Jake Bauers to the Indians

Swapping Edwin and Santana seems strange to me. Bauers will help out a bit in the Indians outfield though

From CLE's perspective, maybe, but from Seattle's perspective it's great.

Encarnacion owed more money this year, but has an option for next year (that they will decline IF he's even on the team), so they save money in the long run, plus they pick up a comp pick in the draft, and that's big for what they are trying to do.

Maybe CLE sees Santana as a little more versatile (can play a decent 1B) and that he's a LH hitter maybe balances out their lineup a bit (I'm just grasping at things here as I only focus on the Mariners perspective).

Yeah I should have clarified, I was talking more from Cleveland's perspective. Dunno, seems pretty lateral, if not backwards. Edwin seems like a better bat to me. Of course, Santana goes back home, and they do get Bauers as well, but I dunno, it seems weird to me. Not necessarily a bad move, just strange

I get where you are coming from but I wouldn't say that Santana for Edwin is even close to backwards. I like getting Bauers also.

I actually don't agree with what appears to be the common opinion around here that Santana is worthless, but in a vacuum I'd definitely rather have Edwin

I would think Bauers will play in the outfield for Cleveland with Yonder Alonso/Carlos Santana splitting the DH/1B duties. With Brantley gone from LF most logical fit is there.

I never thought they viewed Yandy as a long term fit in Cleveland, and obviously like JRam at 3B.

I like this deal for Cleveland, but Bobby Bradley continues to be blocked.

Yeah I don't like this part of it. Is there a chance that he could be moved in deal?

Yandy Diaz cannot be the best player incoming for the Rays right?

Good trade for the Rays. Diaz provides a needed a right handed backup first baseman for Choi and with Nathaniel Lowe at AAA Bauers had no place to go. I'm not sure how big league ready Bauers is.

DH is wide open assuming Bauers gets time in the outfield. I’d be surprised if the Indians aren’t trying to dump Yonder as we speak.

The trio of Yans is quickly being dismantled.
