Default Eloy Jimenez Signs 6y/43m Extension With The White Sox

Good signing by both sides, IMO. What does this mean for him to start the season? Does this mean he’s a lock of OD roster?

His agent is terrible but I get it, He's all hype right now so take the money but IF all options are picked up sad thing for him he will already be 30 when he's a FA.

Also includes 2 option years. Almost a guarantee he is up on opening day.

Dude is getting up to $75 million before ever taking an official MLB at bat. I call this a winning deal for Eloy. He’s rich no matter what happens from here.

Let's hope he doesn't turn into Jon Singleton...

But regardless, if this is what it takes to get some of the top prospects in the game playing on Opening Day, I'm all for it.

It’s 6 years $43m then an additional $32m combined in 2 option years.

That's the crux of the issue.

Yes, he's potentially leaving a lot of $$$ on the table, but he's set for life even if he has a career-ending injury next week.

Wish the Jays would sign Vlad to a deal like this.

Terrific for Eloy and hopefully the Sox. Is this a way to keep the players from striking down the road? Trout and now Eloy getting nice contracts back to back days. Rumors are Acuna signing a lifetime deal tomorrow

Forgot about Bregman. I think all these contracts make sense for both sides. You have your young core wrapped up and young guys are financially stable and don’t have to worry about one injury ending their earning potential before they get theirs

That should end up being a really good deal for Houston.

Agree. He’s becoming one of my favorite players despite still being bitter about the 17 ALCS

Very interesting deal here. Eloy's agent doesn't seem to be very good, but it's a fantastic move by Rick Hahn.

His agent got him more money than he'd see during his arbitration years, and only buys out one free agent year at $17 million. Not to mention, it's the largest contract for a minor leaguer that hasn't played in MLB. I'd say his agent did a pretty damn good job for him.

This take that eloy’s agent isn’t good are presumptive.

I think it’s likeky that Eloy wanted to get paid no matter what happens. This is a great deal for all involved. Hard to argue getting $40+ million like Eloy is gettting. And if he performs, he will get a huge contract in free agency.

It’s a win win.
