The changing inserts every year are pretty nice; at least it shows more effort than panini does in products like prizm. Way too many parallels as usual, but I think the art cards look great and are unique…

Eager to see what these are priced at. I do dig the 2022 design. And like you mentioned, Ra3, the inserts look pretty cool.

They would be foolish to do so. 2021 products and beyond are not going to command great prices. The singles no longer sell well and the sealed product won't either.

Going to have to be a lot less then 2021 to get me to buy a few cases again. I got in early last year before the huge increase but I bet they start high this time. Everything Formula 1 is down even 2020 has cratered. If they price it high I'll wait till the eventual drop which I am certain it will do or just rip a few boxes and buy singles.

$3k for a hobby case seems like a good price given the prices of 2020 and 2021 still but I think I'm going to hold off buying a case for now, maybe just a box to open at release. I just don't see a whole lot of value in more sticker autos when there is Dynasty and the only rookie being Zhou doesn't really add a lot of value.

Pass from me for now.

I am looking forward to Logan's first card, even though it'll be F2. I hear ya though. There isn't much of a chase factor outside of the normal Lewis and Max cards, especially with Zhou being the lone rookie. Not gonna lie though, I was excited to see that price. I figured they'd continue with stupid high prices right out of the gate.

I'll be in at $150 a box. We might just get there

I feel like topps has to do something special at this point to maintain interest in their new F1 products beyond 2020’s seminal editions. The unique nature of the sport, where there are only 20 driver seats with little year-to-year turnover, means there’s not much to attract collectors as each year goes on beyond the one or two new guys - most of whom seem to have little impact at the top echelons of the sport.

I think 2020 stuff is always going to retain value but from here on out, not sure what their options are for new issues if they plan to keep on pumping out retail/hobby boxes with paper, chrome, sapphire and dynasty versions.

Could they severely restrict production to create scarcity? That might reduce revenues and profits. Perhaps come up with unique and rare inserts that become huge chase cards? Celebrity autographs? I dunno…pray for an American driver or a female driver or a rookie who instantly becomes a championship contender?

-Scarcity for sure, quit printing more and more parallels.
-Helmet cards.
-Legend cards (Senna, Schumacher, etc.).
-Relic cards in Chrome
-Cool photography. That definitely pulls me in. The Hamilton Ferris Wheel #56 for example.
-Do a better job at making cards that capture notable events in the Season. Like a driver's first win. Or a driver's last race.

Whoa those are some nice ideas…Legend cards would be great, assuming they have rights to that stuff. And helmet cards…! Actually never thought of that, f1 has some awesome looking helmets…

Seriously what are we supposed to be super excited about by the time 2025 chrome rolls around? The chance of pulling a 6th year verstappen sticker auto? Maybe an Audi logo refractor?

And they do special helmets quite often.

They could do Helmet cards in tiers of SSP. I bet F1 fans would collect the whole driver set. No parallels... all refractors like the IVs. Have 4-5 different tiers.

If they get sargeant (first US F1 racer in several years next year) along with some of the other F2 drivers that are moving up (or potentially doing so) this could hold some promise as “rookie class” could be better then in the 21 set

Yeah (next?) year’s class of piastri, de vries and sargeant are potentially pretty interesting RCs, and could be even more so if any of them or their teams could be competitive with the top 3 teams under the new rules.

The other aspect of topps chrome f1 that seems somewhat interesting but inconsistent to me are those drivers like Alonso or Hulkenberg who have their first TC cards in these sets. For 2020, verstappen/Hamilton/leclerc/vettel had their first TC cards treated like RCs. I didn’t really see that with Alonso last year…might that change over time?

Cards look pretty nice from what I saw of the special pre-release show — lot better than flagship although I still wish they changed it up a bit more year over year. Autos seemed to be about every couple boxes or so although I didn’t watch the whole show so others might have more detail

This isn't overkill or anything.

Yeah...quite confused about that.
