Anybody submit to PSA lately?

I sent some cards in on Value Bulk that were received December 22nd and they are already in Encapsulating stage.

Anyone else have any experience with recent submissions and turnaround times?

Main PSA site says late March is my expected completion date, but in my experience, grading is the longest stage and the others are pretty quick after that...

Crazy fast right now. Just look at the PCS thread in the grading forum, you can see they hardly have any subs in the pipeline relative to previous months.

My most recent sub was received on Nov. 22nd....logged in on Nov. 27th, with an "ETA" of Feb. 24th, 2024. Received, grades available notice, last Thursday....shipping confirmation on Tuesday, and FedEx tracking shows delivery on or before, this coming Monday.

I did the 1990’s special before the holidays - December 5th - and my cards arrive tomorrow. Exactly a month. Really quick. Love it.

Yeah, they didnt have any backlog at the start of Dec so things are flying, expect things to slow down now with the current special

Be careful, grades coming out right now are horrific. They are back to protecting Pop reports and not giving out 10’s.

Guess I lucked out, then. Recently sent 9 cards, and 7 came back 10's.

I sent off 3 orders with different service levels and all three went into "grading" within 2-3 days. My value sub shows Apr 4 as being returned but I assume it will be sooner than that. I'm glad I sent it before the special because I imagine there will be a backlog with that special. I hope I don't get a grouchy grader. I'm pretty sure 2 will come back as 9's but realistic know that another 4-5 could just based off of what I know about them historically. If I get less than 13-14 10's in the bulk submission I will be surprised.

Are you talking about vintage? Which pop reports are they protecting?

I can’t say I’ve noticed this at all. I submit about 12-14 cards every two month or so.

Do you have any examples of specific players who are being “pop controlled”?

The person I was responding to said Modern. Either way, I think “pop control” is a conspiracy theory people use to cope when their cards don’t get 10’s.

I’ve been seeing a lot of “Pop Report Conspiracy Grade PSA 9” on EBay listings lately.

Pop control is real and legitimate. 1987-88 Fleer Michael Jordan, I submitted it with absolutely no flaw and at worst 55-45 top and bottom, it got a PSA 9 before the base card explosion. Looking at the card again, I can't believe it is a PSA 9. The only way it will get a PSA 10 is I submitted with a big PSA submitter. If you submit a non-household name player, it likely will get a 10.

This is such a tired take. "Oh all my stuff didn't ten, must be PSA up to no good!"

I sent in 34 (mostly) 80s and 90s cards in November at standard bulk service. Hit tens on 23 of them (66%). I'll take that all day on stuff that is 30-40 years old. I did get a 5 on a 1990 score Bo Jackson shoulder pad card, so that was probably the Pop Protect in effect.

The turnaround was crazy on these as well, Nov 8 in system and back in hand Dec 21.

I also did the holiday 80s special, those were logged Dec 11 and my grades popped yesterday.

That was potentially the case a year ago but my more recent orders have been mighty fair. In fact, I might have got the anti-GOD on my most recent with 26/41 gem. Either that or I'm just getting much better looking over my cards. My most recent order entered 12/6 was shipped back to me today. ETA Tuesday so just over a month. Pretty solid.

I had 11 cards in shabagel's recent bulk new submission and they are already in his hands. I was surprised to get 10 out of 11 10s and the one 8 was an afterthought that I didn't give the tough going over to.
My last 2 orders about a year ago with about 20 cards each had the percentage plummet to hardly 50% 10s.
He shipped on 11/29 and I joked that I guess I can bug him in February.
