Default QB ranking since the 2018 draft

It’s the day after the Super Bowl 2024 and Thanos has snapped his fingers. Instantaneously every single NFL player drafted in 2017 and prior has disappeared from existence (sorry Mahomies), and there are no avengers around.

The NFL scrambles to restore order and mandates all teams start from scratch in random order. All QB’s remaining are now available to all teams. In what order do the QB’s get drafted picks numbers 1-10, since we all know franchises will start a new team from the QB position?

All QB’s drafted starting in 2018 and on are healthy and eligible, including QBs entering the 2024 draft.

Pick number 1 is on the clock…..so how do the top 10 QB picks go in order?

Give it some time, you really need to put some effort to think about this one.

Sounds like a bathroom situation when I get back to the office. I’m on it

Good question.

I'll put the rest of the list together here in a bit.

1. Lamar
2. Josh Allen
3. Joe Burrow
4. Justin Herbert
5. Jalen Hurts
6. CJ Stroud
7. Trevor Lawrence
8. Brock Purdy
9. Kyler Murray
10. Caleb Williams

The next ones outside the top 10: Jordan Love, Drake Maye, Tua, Justin Fields, Anthony Richardson, Jayden Daniels, Baker, Bryce Young

Don’t think I’m missing anyone

Lamar seems at least to me to have the inside track at first overall. 2 time MVP, and there’s no other MVP winners left I believe

Josh Allen and Burrow go 2 and 3. I give Allen the edge over Burrow even though Burrow has been to the Super Bowl mainly due to health. Burrow has had 2 of his 4 seasons ended via injury which is enough of a difference on the margin to give Allen the edge. If you switched them I would also totally get it

Then I think you’ve got the end of that top 3 which is a tier by itself. Herbert and Hurts is a personal preference, I would personally go Hurts 4 and Herbert 5 but people and front offices love Herbert’s tools that I think he goes over him. Stroud at 6 mainly because he’s had 1 season only. He looks incredible and wouldn’t shock me if he jumps higher next year, but only 1 year

I hate to say it but Purdy has to be top 10, I’m not a Purdy guy but he’s 60 minutes from winning a SB

Murray was my 11th guy. Tough leaving him off, I went back and forth on it. Otherwise I enjoyed your analysis and agree mostly with it.

Yeah Kyler is right there, he looked real good post injury this year, he’s definitely one of the bigger wild cards at QB going forward

Caleb is absolutely top 10, also when you include he’s on a cheap contract. Because that certainly makes team building easier especially if you’re starting from scratch

Kyler probably a bit of a homer pick cuz I think he’s got a lot of talent, I understand his concerns but he’s got undeniable talent

I think Williams is over rated. He cares more about his brand then football and will be another Chicago Bears bust.

Tells you everything you need to know about the current QB talent in the NFL that nobody has picked a consensus #1 yet...

Geno, Baker, and Minshew were in the Pro Bowl

I don’t care if they were replacements

QB play in the NFL is garbage for 85% of teams

Makes you realize how far and above Mahomes is than everyone else.

I'm listing this without consideration for what team or coaching staff would be picking. The Jets and the Ravens would likely be looking at different types of QBs.

1 Josh Allen
2 Lamar Jackson
3 Joe Burrow
4 Justin Herbert
5 CJ Stroud
6 Brock Purdy
7 Jalen Hurts
8 Jordan Love
9 Caleb Williams
10 Trevor Lawrence

People taking Hurts that high are insane if this was a start from scratch draft. Come on now

32 teams would take Caleb Williams… and I don’t even think he’s good… over Hurts if he was the first player on the team and there was no other players around him

This thread is embarrassing already

MVP runner up and was 1 quarter away from winning a Super Bowl, I think the Hurts hate from this year skewed way harder than it should have

Which is fine

You would still take Caleb Williams or Trevor Lawrence ahead of him if you were starting a team from scratch

That’s the key. I feel like people don’t get this thread. In no world is Hurts a Top 10 pick if there are 0 NFL players and we’re drafting the first 10

Is Hurts better than Fields if they switched teams? Rhetorical. He isn’t

It’s not even a discussion

He is, the fact you’re saying it isn’t a discussion is hilarious.

1. Allen - most talented player in bunch IMO
2. Herbert - above Jackson/Burrow because of age and injury histories
3. Lamar
4. Burrow
5. Stroud
6. Lawrence
7. Caleb
8. Fields
9. Hurts
10. Anthony Richardson

Explain

Assuming Hurts plays for Chicago and Fields plays for Philadelphia

How many games does Hurts win in Chicago?
