Default 2024 Topps Archives?

Does anyone know if Topps is going to release a regular Archives this year? I know they've already released the Signature Series.

Thanks!

Probably, didn't come out last year until sometime in November.

I liked when they went a few years in a row featuring baseball movies in the product, with autographs.

I know it would probably be expensive for Topps, but I am still hoping they decide to that again someday and choose A League of Their Own.

cant TenX profits when paying for actors autos.

Plus, it will sell out without them

I don't know how well Hobby does but retail is still EVERYWHERE around here 6 months after release. Boxes and boxes of it collecting dust until they put a $17 sticker on it.

Yep just have to be patient. Pulled some really nice cards out of those $17 blasters last year. No reason for FOMO

Here's the checklist for those who care.

It's always got a good range of autos. I'll admit I'm a little disappointed that the only non-player autos this year, while good signors were also in this years Topps Chrome new 'Seamhead Signatures' subset.

Kenny Lofton as a Giant is a weird flex.

I doubt he will have any more Indians cards. He was in the 2024topps 35th anniversary insert set as a Cub.

Is that an MLB thing, trying to get us all to forget that a team named "Indians" ever existed?

I never realized how bizarre Lofton's career path was.

He played 60% of his games with one team, and had TEN teams that he played less than a full season's worth of games with.

Could be one of Rickey Henderson’s last on-card autos.

For anyone that wants this, wait for the Topps release. Should be much cheaper then what the dealers are asking right now on presale.

I open a ton of products, usually by the case, but have never opened Archives. For those who have opened before, where is the value? I’m sure this is overpriced like almost all products right now, but I wanted to try it this year and wondered what to expect.

I’m guessing 3-4 sets @$100 each - $300-$400 in value
20 autographs @$10-$15 each - $200-$300 in value

Parallels? Are there a certain number per box?
Inserts? Do people go after these to build master sets like Heritage?

I know sets like Ginter…The various minis, box toppers, hot box foils, guaranteed Rip cards, etc. all have value. Are there surprises I’m missing in Archives?

Thanks!

I opened blaster cases in 2022 and did 45% ROI (Profit) with no big hits. In that year, the retail inserts sold well since they were only in retail so I'm sure I benefitted from that. I haven't looked closely enough to see what the retail exclusives might be this year. There is certainly value, but retail could be the play depending on the exclusives. I do plan to look into it this week (yeah, last minute) to see what I want to do.

Alot of appeal with Archives depends on which designs they are doing and 2024 doesn't impress me design wise. The Fan Favorite Autos can do pretty good with player/team collectors. Like every set base is garbage and only parallels of the top 2 or 3 big Rc's will have any value.

This year it's 1961, 1970, and 1994 for the base designs. 1961 is blahhh and 1970 was the Heritage release just 5 yrs ago.

What to expect in a hobby box:

Autographs – 2
Inserts – 12
Pink Foilboard Parallels – 8
Additional Serial Numbered Cards – 2

This....

I'm someone who collects Archives in years where I like the designs, and ignore it in years where I don't.

This year's lineup & checklist looks to be pretty mediocre....I'd stay away.

Last year's set was much better, with the popular 1956 & 1965 designs, and some strong inserts.

Image variations go from 1:322 to 1:97

Could this be accurate? If so, hobby just got crazy this year.

I didn't see the pre-order page on Topps but I do see the one on Fanantics page for 129.95. Looks like they are having a product drop there which means lottery of some sort.

lottery for this product is weird. Does Fanatics ever offer free shipping on product drops? After tax and shipping, despite the lower price- its not hugely better than BOs price for the Hobby box
