What, exactly, leads you to that conclusion?

I sure hope Topps does this again but not clear that is the direction Topps is going yet. It would be great if Topps could mix it up and have other sports and entertainment options available for the wrapper redemption. This was discussed at the last National QA.

Default Any word on the 2021 Topps Q&A?

Looks like the Bowman wrapper redemption is back for 2021 per an email from the National. And looks like Trout is on the checklist along with Griffey, Carlson, Hayes, and Tatis. It does not state chrome so could just be paper (that is a little bit of a bummer). Also, no indication of parallels or autos in the packs.

I was there. Honestly most of their answers were non-answers which I expected.

Some of the questions asked:

ThoseBackPages asked about etching in the chrome cards and they mentioned that there is a cost involved. They said if fans overwhelming want it they would consider bringing it back. They then did an informal survey of the room and about 1/3 of the 150 raised their hand for etching.

I asked about the website issues. They said they hired a new company to try and revamp it and they understand what a poor customer experience it is. I mentioned the inconsistency of the lottery system and they didn’t really reply.

Someone mentioned how they enjoy Project 70 and how would they top that? They stated they are working on making it even better.

Someone asked about them increasing their Montgomery club memberships and they said they will a bit. Someone else asked if they could increase the amount of time that members have to renew and they said they will consider that too.

Questions were asked about various licenses like basketball and NASCAR and they said they were always looking to add more.

Someone asked what happened to Sandy Koufax autos and they said they no longer have a deal with Sandy Koufax but are always looking to bring him back.

If I remember any more questions I will share.

They gave away door prizes that included wax and Topps branded merchandise. When we all left, all 150 attendees got this Luis Robert on-card auto /150.

Only a third of the room wanted to bring back etching?

Bunch of amateurs in there.

I did ask about the quality issues of cards produced in Italy and if anything is being done to address the issue. Answer was that due to the current situation, Topps is adding on new printing partners and with that there is a learning curve with the new printers and it is taking a time to address some of the quality issues such as card damage, collation issues, missing hits, etc. Is probably also a reason for the changing of the release dates and trying to get all of the stuff printed on time. Sounds like Topps is addressing the issues but it is also dependent on the printers doing their part, which may be out of Topps hands besides not using the printers anymore.

Thank you. Seemed like a pretty obvious question this year.

Maybe they should just print their own cards like they used to?!

Topps briefly noted that a Mickey Mantle X on demand like product would be coming out soon during the QA. Topps just tweeted this. Not sure if it is in reference to the new product coming out or about Topps in general due to last weeks surprise.
