Default Perhaps the most meaningful hobby-related gift I could imagine

At the risk of making a long and drawn-out post…

One of my favorite players to follow, ever since I first saw him in 2017 in Hagerstown, has been Juan Soto. Obviously his star has taken off somewhat in the past 4 years, and a lot of other folks are buying his cards, PCing him, and so on. I don’t pretend to have the biggest Soto PC or be the biggest Soto fan, but I was very early on the hype train, and he is probably my favorite non-Vandy player to watch.

On September 4, 2021, my son was born. My first child, and he’s awesome. We did not name him Juan or Soto or Jose or Pacheco, but my son is nonetheless cool.

My wife was able to track down a single Soto hit on my son’s date of birth

What makes this even cooler, and even more special to me, is that this is Juan Soto’s career hit #452. My son was born at…4:52am.

Always cool when a piece involving a favorite player intersects with real life like that.

And kudos to my wife for being awesome as hell.
