my understanding is that quality control over at Playoff at the time wasn't great, so a lot of the Contenders autographed rookie cards came out miscut straight from the company, hence the "authentic" grade.
i didn't know about this, but i was pretty well educated from the fellas here at BO about it.
i have the entire rookie autographed set from 2000 Contenders and yep, it's true.
