2018 Bryce Harper thread... Contract year

Well this is my 3rd or 4th year doing this...

Lots of ups and downs...

I can't believe he is starting his 7th year...

Hopefully we can see 140-150 games from Harper this year.....

So he can add to his

5 AS games
ROY
MVP

1 week to reporting to ST
44 days to opening day

Well, I for one, am hoping that fleecing happens to Ricketts and the Cubbies.

My main hope is for a full, healthy year.
My second-but-maybe-should-be-my-first hope is that he signs with anyone but the Yankees.
If he does in fact sign with the Yankees, I will legit sell every single Harper card I own.

The Yankee premium from the sales will help, but it will hurt a lot more to no longer be able to root for him..

Not to be the doom and gloom guy but if Harper has a bad year does it significantly lower his price in free agency or does he try to sign a one year deal to re enter on a strong year

If Harper hits .238 with 25 homers and 75 RBI he will still get whatever the heck he asks for.

True that.....you all know who his agent is. He's doesn't even have to play 120 games and he's getting paid. But I don't think the Yankees need to take him on for the money

I would normally agree with the above statements but currently the free agent market for hitters is saturated with very good talent for next year, if Harper grossly underperforms signing a short 2-3 year deal to still re enter the market at age 29 may make him more money overall, but I do agree that it is Boras so if someone offers he will get a long term deal perhaps even a 10 year. Thoughts?

Imo he was on pace for 2nd mvp before wet base got him

Could of been 2 mvp before 25

I suppose he got get injured again ..

But if he can not get hurt. Someone is going to pay up

Who knows maybe he will be more comfortable with a 3 year 100 million deal

The 10 year 400 million is so dumb even to me

2016 trout was better
2017 both hurt. About same stats .. push

So ya I remember that

Trout is better I have always said that

But it’s been real close last 3 years

If Harper was not an injury machine

A lot of there stats would be super close at 25 years old
