Ridiculous how lucky Wainwright has gotten today. Two line drives to left field to prevent a run and then Javy’s blast just missed

Wow. You're so not wrong.

Had such high hopes to....but it's still early.

I think when Chatwood’s family emigrated to this country, they changed their name from Walkburger.

He takes 4 straight balls last AB then this. Frustrating.

Moved to Nisei to catch Ohtani and regain feeling in my extremities. It's nice here and the Cubs always do better when I'm not there.

KB hit the hell out of that, Cards just keep getting bailed out. Cubs really should have 5 more hits on the board

2016 is forever.

But this crap might be for the whole season.

Probably not, but sure feels like it right now.

At least we’re as good as the Yankees (aka Baby Bombers Dynasty).

Of course. Now that it doesn’t matter. Go Javy.

Whoever named this the 2017-18 Cubs thread delivered some bad jinxy juju.

This totally looks like last year.

Good thing is that every Maddon Cubs team is best in baseball come August. Hopefully that will be enough again.

Silver linings: Not a lot of horrible ABs. Guys are striking the ball. When it’s warmer, a lot of those balls carry.

Javy is on the cusp of realizing his superstar potential.

At this point, we need to shelve the Ian Happ experiment for a time and accentuate Zobrist, Almora, and Javy.

I know lots of folks will view this as crazy, but I continue to feel that Javy deserves a tryout at leadoff.

The guy I really feel for on the Cubs right now is Addison Russell.

Other than a few loose, throwback ABs in those Braves games, he has really struck the ball well this year. He’s putting it solidly in play a lot so far, especially compared to his whiff-plagued prior seasons.

But in the last week or so, pretty much nothing is falling for him. I know that has to turn around eventually, but just too bad to see his numbers take such a marked dive in the last week, as he’s just not getting rewarded for many of the really strong ABs he’s having.

Another day, another postponed game.

At least this one gets made up tomorrow (though I could have watched some of it today, but won’t be able to do so tomorrow).

They aren’t going to get any more consistent (at least not in a positive way) if they don’t play more than 2-3 times a week.

I like seeing Javy getting a shot much higher in the batting order. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing him at leadoff for a while, Almora in leadoff and Javy No. 2 ahead of Bryzzo is fine by me. Would like to see Maddon give that configuration an extended chance (though we all know that won’t happen with him).

Whether they win today or not, just hope they can play a solid all-around game and hopefully start to get some more normal flow going the next couple weeks.

I’m not too optimistic about the coming trip to CO, to be honest, as the Rockies just seem to always play us tough in recent years, and they definitely have a lot of talent right now, but after that road trip, I’m hoping the Cubs’ mojo and the weather start to trend in a more positive direction.

But knowing this team, they will probably dig a huge hole again in the first half and then come roaring back (hopefully) in August and September. Didn’t think we’d see that again this year, but who knows at this point? Starting pitching has to play up to its potential.
