wasn't there something similar like a year ago. Came out with a massive marketing push and fizzled after just a couple of sets.

Yes Metazoo. I believe it’s a TGC, or at least the cards are designed in that way.

I think this would have way more interest if this was a world without Metazoo. As terrible and mismanaged as the Metazoo company and creators were, the cards were great and really dug into the lore of North American cryptids/legends/tall tales and had some pretty good art. The product description is basically Metazoo, except not a card game. And when you can buy all the cool Metazoo card Sets for like $20 a booster box, I don't see how this can succeed. I hate to say it Metazoo probably kills the chances of this being a big hit.

Just to clarify, this series is NOT affiliated with Metazoo is any way, shape or form. Cryptid Anthology is a separate trading card set with different art styles that includes all types of cryptids.
