Is anyone watching the lakers game on league pass? They have a channel called hoopervision. It’s just jcole, Quentin Richardson, and Jamal Crawford just talking while the game is on in the background.

I like it better than the play by play guys. Haven’t seen it on league pass before

6 in a row for Utah. Mitchell on an off night still putting up 22 and 6 assists. Jazz destroyed Philly. Gobert outplayed Embiid. Simmons doesn’t even have the balls to play basketball. Ya gotta love it!

How good have the Grizzlies been since losing Morant? And no Brooks today and they still handle the Lakers. Crazy.
Must be because they're playing Adams more minutes....

Only two things were certain after the first couple weeks of the season:

(1) the wiz would fall back to earth because 'that's so Wizards'

(2) gomiamigo would vanish as soon as the sixers started sucking and his awful takes about their role players being transcendent super stars in the making would cease.

Honestly, #1 is a small price to pay for #2.

Adams is a smart player, Ja is their worst defender by far so sometimes him being out is a positive, Bane is super underrated, and JJJ is quietly turning into a defensive monster.

Will Barton is on many nights the most infuriating player to watch. I wish to god he could be buried on the bench but its not feasible with the Nuggets personnel.

Like watching the Spurs compete even though the wins aren’t there. They play teams tough and if they can hit 3s more consistently, could be more dangerous

JJJ casually goes around ad and thru the paint for the easy dunk. he's averaging 21ppg and shooting 41.3% from 3 with Ja out.

Almost like the Player's Lounge/Pass thingie they had on NBATV/TNT. It drew horrible ratings.

As someone who picked up quite a few Dejounte Murray cards over the years (I liked his defense), I'm really pleased to see him leading the team on offense. Almost averaging a triple-double on the year used to get more hype on this forum.

Grizz are a good team, they have retained the identity of Grit & Grind but the most scary thing about them is that the nucleus is so young. I love Bane, he is like a new and improved version of EG, he's strong and fearless. Took James to the cup a couple times, drills 3's... Dang you Bane.

Big Steve crushed the Lakers on the offensive glass, and he draped himself all over AD in that first half to render him almost ineffective. Adams loves matching up against AD... too big, and too strong. How many easy buckets did he create tonight by sealing his man? I counted 3 in the 1st half alone, ain't no stat for that.

When I look at Mobley his body looks a bit off. I think he’s going to fill in a bit and at 7 feet I think 50 lbs is close to nothing.

At this point he’d be more like a KG player assuming everything is equal and that’s a huge comparison.

The issue with not gaining weight might be his ability to bang down low. He has the skill set to outplay people on the block but, due to size, he may not be able to make/create those same shots (it seems he likes the post area too).

Heading into the Laker game, Memphis had limited opponents to 92.5 points on .387 shooting in its previous six games. No team had played better defense during that stretch. Thursday was more of the same. The Grizzlies stole the ball nine times in the second quarter against the Lakers — a franchise record.

Through the first 19 games of this season, the Grizzlies were allowing 116.4 points on .484 shooting.
huge shift

Just looking at numbers...

I'm pretty impressed with Trae's season offensively. At this point there seems to be almost no drop offs from the rule changes. He's averaging 1 more point than last year, higher 3 pt %, same exact 2 pt %. His only real drop off is almost 3 less free throws a game, but he's making it up in other areas.

Hawnks seem to have had 2 issues: 1. A brutal West Coast trip where they dropped 4 out of 4, and 2. a sub par defense.

The Hawnks playing so-so has another effect around here.. the people who love to hate on them are quiet, but so are their biggest supporters. It's the first time in a few years where these guys aren't one of the most talked about teams in the forums.

Stop calling them Hawnks man, that’s disrespectful.

what is there to talk about with them? They're treading water basically... the defense is hurting because Hunter and Reddish are out - so a new player to the team and basically 3rd stringer TLC is often starting - he's been decent to actually pretty good some nights, but still a lot of rotating cast, coupled with how Trae is still one of the worst defenders in the game doesn't help.

I think it's gonna be very interesting if Memphis keeps winning with Ja out... what are pro analytic teams going to do with big offense - negative defenders like Ja, Trae, etc? With only 5 men on the court, you can only hide them so much. I watched a "good" defensive sequence from the Grizz from when Ja was healthy, he got cooked twice in one possession - it was labeled "good" because the other 4 did such a good job covering/switching and looked so cohesive that it was pretty incredible to watch.

It's a homage to the flipper boiz who spiked Trae Prizm Base all the way up to $800 each for PSA 10s.

Once prices on these eclipse that once again, I'll drop the Hawnks moniker. Till then, just realize I'm not ripping on the team as much as the folks that thought the never ending supply of 2018 Prizm bass wouldn't surpass demand.

Well this synopsis is a good start.

I haven't seen a whole lot of them this season, and I'm wondering if Capela and Bogdan are just having slow starts to the year or are they starting to fall off.

Those guys we key contributors last season. They seem to be doing a little less this year. Thoughts?

Yea... over on reddit the meme is "Stonkz". So "Hawnkz" is my take on it, particularly the thought that you were going to get rich hoarding Trae base.

That being said, a lot of people have made money off of Trae, and I imagine the folks holding the right stuff have done very well. I sold my Prizm Base, Silvers, etc at the right time, but it's too bad for the folks who bought near peak and are left holding the bag.

The early season schedule was brutal, specially the road trip they had and that set them back some. Bogdan is hurt now but hadn't found his rhythm offensively even before then so that's been a part of it as well but the offense as a whole is humming so I'm not sure his absence or struggles have been huge.

The defense has been a mess so far. and that's the issue really. Hunter and Cam are hurt again and that has impacted the defense some. But Capela is the biggest issue right now imo. He is the anchor for the defense and when he's playing at full capacity then it allows the team to hide Trae easier and play high level basketball as they showed in the second half last year and in the playoffs. Other than about a 5-6 game stretch though he's had a tough start to the year. He came into the season getting over an achilles issue so I'm not sure if that's the problem or not. Like I said, Capela is the key there but the point of attack defense has been terrible as well. The hope is that once Hunter and Cam are back to full strength that issue will resolve itself some and Capela will return to form. With their offense, the defense doesn't have to be top 5, it just needs to be top 10-15.

Their schedule has been very tough. The early losing stretch schedule went WSH, PHI, WSH, BKN, UTAH, PHX, GS, UTAH, DEN, MIL. I’ve watched them all.
They have rarely played bad, they ran into teams many nights that can’t miss a shot. A lot of teams would have their best 3 point shooting night of the season against them. I wouldn’t say it’s bad defense either. Even making ridiculous 3s at quarter ends etc. They haven’t been playing teams without their stars and getting lucky wins that way. Ja did get hurt in that game, ATL was already looking in control early.

You mention Bogdan in another post. He has already missed almost 2 weeks, and will be out another 2-3 at least.
Obviously Hunter and Cam are big injuries, but Okongwu is huge as well. He was really coming into his own, and getting favored playing time over Capela in some instances down the stretch last year. They don’t have another good center to help keep Clint fresh. Okongwu coming back changes the dynamic of their second unit completely.
Gallo hasn’t been as good as last year, but he has slimmed down and is moving better. It’s only a matter of time before his shot is more consistent. Lou Will has been pretty bad imo. So the guys that have needed to step up because of injuries haven’t been able to. TLC has been a pleasant surprise, but should not be starting. This team is still a monster waiting. Trae has played the best basketball of his career, he is on another level. Shooting, passing, defense, decision making, it’s all upgraded. Lots of fun to watch.
