Great release for true collectors. All Kings looks sick.
Get off your high horse. It's ok to call a product/checklist for what it is from time to time.

Amazing people aren't outraged over the coming rug pull on the Blacks /74.

It’s not even worth it anymore to become outraged on what Fanatics is going to choose to do because those who are in charge are going to do what they are going to do regardless of what anyone has to say or think about it.

People should be outraged over something they don't even know will happen?

To call a product garbage because it's a weak RC class is not calling the product what it is though.

There are 3-4 decent RCs, plus the SPs. There's Soto's first flagship Mets card. There's a strong Future Stars checklist. There's the new All-Kings inserts. There's the blacks from Series 1 and 2.

This is a typical Series 2 quality checklist.

Who are the 3-4 decent RCs? Roki, Jobe, and Kim?

The All-Kings will do well.

Until I see odds with the Blacks, I'm going to assume they arent in there.

Luisangel Acuna, Griffin Conine (was playing well before the injury), Kevin Alcantara (since you included two guys that sucked and were demoted when 2024 came out). In addition to the 3 you listed. And go look at the list that JAM posted in the very first post. There's 5-6 more guys that have some prospect pedigree that only got a cup of coffee so far in the bigs.

Is it a weak RC class compared to Series 1 and Update? Probably. Is that pretty standard that Series 2 is weakest of the 3 most years? Yup.

Bringing up a 27 year old Marlins rookie with a 35% strike out rate over 2400 minor league plate appearances certainly constitutes grasping for straws.

A rookie who was playing well before he got injured. We're talking about decent players.

For the record, bustsomewax included Lawrence Butler and Keston Kjerstad in is list of his rookies to help move the needle for 2024 Series 2. Butler was never a highly rated prospect and had been demoted for poor play before Series 2 came out. Kjerstad was in the 50-60's for prospect ranking and was also demoted before the product release.

What do you mean, probably? This is one of weakest checklist we've seen in some time for a Flagship release. No need to spin it otherwise. Did you pre-order a bit? I only got one case instead of the usual 2-5.

Hopefully the /74s are really in this though.

I agree this checklist is very weak with mostly 3rd tier RC's, maybe 2nd tier at best. I won't be buying any of it. Maybe a few singles.

Update should be pretty good though! I believe we're still building that checklist with the rest of May's callups potentially. REGULAR ROOKIE CARDS should include:

Shaw
C. Smith
Campbell
Baldwin
Veen
Edgar Quero
Keaschall
Durbin
Chandler Simpson
Agustin Ramirez
Kurtz
Dollander
Petty
Tidwell
Horton
Ballesteros
Rushing

Not bad!!

I'm betting Bubba Chandler will be joining this list soon.

What's some time? 2020, 2021, 2022 all have comparable Series 2 RC classes. 2019 had a couple top prospects (Tatis and Eloy) but overall was an extremely weak checklist. 2023's Update true RC (not the RDs) checklist was garbage.

I'm not spinning anything. Series 2 historically has had weak RC checklists. You are the one trying to spin it like the product has been known for strong checklists.

Yes, Series 2 is usually the worst of all 3 options. But this Checklist is bad for even those standards is my argument.

Did you pre-order any of this?

Except it's not. I gave you three years of recent Series 2 that are similiar in weakness. Sorry, but even at the time, Ke'Bryan Hayes and Jazz Chisholm was not a stronger RC checklist than this.

This is a typical Series 2 quality checklist.

And I will be buying the same as I do every year, to build my set.

It's your opinion that this isn't that bad of a checklist and you are entitled to have that opinion. Just like my opinion goes along with BustSomeWax. I feel this is a very weak checklist. It's your $$$. Buy as much as you'd like. Me, I won't be buying any except for maybe a few singles of a few RC's. I'll save my $$ for Update. The potential checklist I provided a couple posts back looks way better than Series 2. Maybe not 2024 Update good but on its way for sure.

its "ok" to have years where the hobby goes luke warm on first year topps cards.

not every year has to be a winner, at release or in the future

It's a weak RC class. Which is common for Series 2. There's plenty of names on the overall checklist. I'll be picking up Braves players and their parallels.

I chose to look at things from a collector standpoint and not a "how much are the rookies going to sell for" standpoint.

The Ben Casparius RC will carry the product.

Lots of mental gymnastics to justify blowing $180 on eight minutes of adrenaline rush to get a pile of commons, a Ryan Presley card numbered to 40,000, a Yordan Alvarez bat relic, and a Matt Gorski autograph.
