I don't understand why sellers say no returns when you can make returns.
Slimy seller.

Have used him multiple times. Never had a problem with him. I still will use him as my go to breaker as I think he is one of the best

Everyone is so quick to jump and start accusing people of being shady on here. I have been collecting for over 20 years and have tons of BGS cards and would never had known that was a BGS holder, maybe because I never have taken my enclosed cards apart. So what if he didn't pull it in his store, he like many of us probably just use the same template for each item sold and didn't think to change it to reflect a consigned card. It's a nice gesture to warn others if you know something about a card, but everyone automatically assumed the seller is trying to scam buyers without ever hearing the whole story.

I'm not pointing fingers but he probably did consign it and just puts the same description on all items. However we do not know if he got it in a toploaders or by the BGS slab. He did the right thing and took the listing down. If a card has major or distinctive flaws like that card did it should most definitely be included in the description. I think Layton is a good guy but that's my two cents.

As a consignor you are supposed at least look at what your selling. Tough to notice a card in that plastic and not say hmmm

He took it down - so he did the right thing.

If he was intentionally trying to hide it, he would've taken it out of the BGS sleeve I think.

The eBay template is an easy mistake to make. I know mine used to say that all packages were shipped priority because I forgot to change it... for like a year.

The twitter response is probably just frustration coming out - not the best response as it will have the opposite effect.

I would break with Layton - he has a very good reputation as a host.

You assume that he handled the card himself. Rich runs a store and online breaks he has a few employees that work there also. So I could of been one of them.

Houdini best response.... Rich or any of the people at Layton that I've come into contact with would do something like that intentionally.

So why would you do that?

That is not reassuring.

I've had surface scuffs on chrome that were really hard to see when they were in film (penny sleeve of BGS sleeve) but obvious when taken out. It's for me to tell from his picture in the listing how obvious the condition is. If he wanted to hide it, he probably wouldn't have posted a picture of the back at all. And when you sold this card originally, did you say 'the back is damaged', or did you just assume someone would see the surface subgrade and know exactly what that could entail?

Why would he have to disclose conditions on a graded card. There's no point. It's an 8.5 all concerns of condition are for raw cards. Are they not?

You should probably go look at the listing (now down) or read the thread. Card was busted out of the holder....kinda

I was responding to this in the post prior.

His response was terrible and made him look bad. If one of his employees missed it just say so yes it could happen but own it

He can be a great breaker but his reply was garbage

At least he fixed it and took the item down after it was brought to his attention. I've been watching his breaks lately at least he handles the cards carefully and seems trustworthy from what I've seen. Think about it if some people were bashing you on a thread you might respond something like he did too, but it could've been an honest mix-up.

I sold a Gold Jose Tabata Refractor auto a while back it was BGS 8 and the guy ripped it out of the case and listed it as Mint and when I said something about it on a forum people were all bashing on me, saying things like "what's the big deal its his card now he can sell it however he wants to", so it goes both ways.
