Just wondering if anyone has noticed an uptick on the prices of these as of late
It appears there were 2 BGS 8.5s that just sold on Ebay for 12k each I see a BGS 8 is also now listed for 8k with the only PSA 8 in existence with a 25K BIN And to think only 2 months ago there were several posters who claimed a BGS 8.5 was not worth the 9k BIN at that time ![]() I remember only 2 years ago 9s were sitting on Ebay for $7500 - $9000 BINs Anyone know what a 9 may fetch for these days? Nice seeing the GOAT's GOAT finally getting the props it deserves And no, my name ain't nameanking for the millionth time! Starman Last edited by Starman101; 02-18-2016 at 03:13 PM. |

BGS graded XRC for HOF rookies in general has gone up quite a bit ... good for them, those are some of the best rookies around

same guys recycling the cards back and forth to create a market for it.
What if I sold a certain card between 3 accounts for crazy record prices then came on here and started a thread talking about how prices have been going through the roof? Would it legitimize the increase? |

If I can get 8k for my Bgs 8 it would be tempting. Even if it's the tops in my pc.

8's are steals right now IMO. They sell 1/2 as much as 8.5's

Ya looks like the market price on a 8.5 is 10-12k now, which is crazy.
I gotta think a 9 would get to the 15-20k range

Which ones? The ones printed in 1984 or the ones reprinted in the '90's? Oh yeah, no one can tell the difference.

I think we all know the backstory here. I'm not going to let a past STAR dealer be the primary expert and convince me they never ran those original presses again. There's a reason PSA and SGC don't grade these. And I'm sure BGS, out of all the grading companies, has all the graders who can spot fakes (sarcasm). We can all spot the terrible fakes ourselves, its not that hard. I don't own any '86 Fleer or '84 STAR so I don't care either way. Where there's smoke there's fire, my friends.

You won't buy the backstory from a former seller but you believe the backstory they were reprinted which has zero evidence? I own both and my star is a lowly 6.5. I personally don't care what the prices are. it could skyrocket or plummet and it doesn't change the simple fact that It's a significant card in this hobby and something any Jordan fan should own. While I'm a bit sceptical myself on what's really happening with the price of this card, there is no reason to doubt its significance. IMO, the value seems about right where it should be. If collectors are willing to spend 10k on a logoman or some Andrew Wiggins card a Star MJ BGS 8.5 fro 12k seems like a steal to me. |

I swear every star threads ends up like this.
I almost cringe every time I see a star thread. There is the group that swears nothing was reprinted because one man said so and the other group that swears there are a bunch of fakes. Fake or not.... Star=too much drama.

Different strokes for different folks. There is no proof either way and it's not like the cards are plentiful. |

I think thats what is keeping the price down. I wondering if the tide is turning and thats why the price has been rising?

Starclown just stop. Anyone with half a brain can see a bgs 8 just sold for $4600 on ebay last week. who cares if someone lists one for 8000? If I list my 8 for $1 million dollars is that what it is worth? In the past few months other auction sites have had 8.5's and they sold for 6400 - 6500. If you want to buy an 8.5 from me for 12k I will gladly take your money. |

Personally I think all the star cards are undervalued, the true XRC of guys like MJ/Hakeem/Ewing/Stockton to me are the RCs to own over the Fleer RCs. I love Star cards and hope I can own the MJ one day.

These threads make me cringe too. How is it that after almost 8 years of grading that there are less than 500 total copies in the only pop report of the only company that grades the card of Jordan's 101 if there are so many "good reprints" Is there some maniacal genius sitting on hordes of them just waiting on the right time to cash in? You people's logic baffles me. The same guy bought both 8.5's for roughly $12,000 each. Those were record prices for 8.5s. Doesn't mean the next 8.5 will sell that high, maybe it will sell for more.
Stop traffic... I was offered $15,000 recently by a member on here for my 8.5 and I took about 30 seconds before I said no thanks. Call me a liar, call it recycling whatever you guys want but those sales were legit. What sucks is everytime there is a star thread, people that have no interest, no education, no information on the truth get on here and spout out nonsense. The tide is turning as evidenced by the prices. Fear will not keep these things down forever. Jordan is leading the way. The other rookies will follow. The era is too strong. The cards are too rare. |
