Default What's worth more? PSA 10 or BGS 9.5/9

I have a few cards with definite 9 autos, my question is, (assuming condition is good), do I send to psa for a PSA 10 or BGS for a 9.5/9?

My next question is, how about a PSA 9 bs a BGS 9.5/9?

*note, all are 2014-2016 cards

There is no question, PSA 10 is worth much, much, much more than BGS 9.5/9.

Many would argue that BGS 9/10 is worth more than BGS 9.5/9, so you're looking at 2 tiers better (IMHO).

How about a PSA 9 vs BGS 9.5/9?

Much closer in value, but I think it would still be argued that PSA 9 is better.

Well, the auto isn't going to get any touch ups in that PSA case. For a PC card, I'd rather have it BGS 9.5/9 for sure. For a card I might try to sell later on with a less than perfect auto, I can see why people think about PSA without the auto grading service the same as people send them their off center cards hoping it slips past.

Just another example of how outlandish it is to base value on someone else's opinion of a card, because a BGS 9.5/9 and a PSA 9 are pretty much the same card unless you pay extra for the PSA auto grading service and you get a blind grader who gives the auto a 10.

Wanna see something funny about PSA's dual Autograph and Card Grading service? Click below...PSA 9 w/8 Auto on that Harper Heritage Red Ink Real One because the auto is off center. BGS don't care if an auto is off center, that card would get a 10 all day long so this is why I really don't care what either company thinks about a card. If I like it for my collection I'll buy it.

I want to get some PC cards graded just to get slabbed here soon, I really won't put much faith in the numbers they assign to them just because I know how it goes.

Anyone buying a PSA 10 should have enough common sense to not pay full price if the auto appears to be on a BGS 9 level.

"Should" being the key word.

Buy the card, not the grade!

PSA 9 = BGS 9.5/9

This is a bit more subjective but I just hate anything less than 10 autos. Even if the PSA has the exact same auto, at least it isn't called out as less than 10. I realize that sounds silly but it's how I feel and I'm not alone.

Buy the cheaper 9.5/9, crack, send to PSA, sell, and repeat!
Works every time.

I knew they graded autos - but wtf? Is that really an 8 due to placement? Auto otherwise looks fine.

I'm saying, my personal preference is not to buy a card with an auto that would grade anything less than a 10.

Right usually I wouldn't either. What about those few autos (early Harpers, Josh Bell 2012 Bowman) that only have a few 10's and say its an Orange Refractor then I'd for sure rather have a 9.5/9 than a PSA 9.

I only have 2 autos that are 9.5/9 out of 40 some graded cards, one deserves it for sure and one just looks like the grader felt like nit picking because I've seen 10x worse get a 10 all day long.

Sickening isn't it? It looks A-okay to me! I couldn't believe that thread when someone threw that up, it was one of the first PSA dual grading service cards that came up for sale on eBay I think.

You know someone bought that, cracked it, then either sent it in for regular grading service at PSA or they BGS'd it for a pretty 10 on that auto. No reason for an 8 auto on that card at all. If PSA is going to grade autos that harsh NOBODY will be using that service!

So if I have a few modern cards that graded a PSA 9 and all have (what would be a bgs 9 auto), should I crack the PSA case and send to BGS and hope for a 9.5/9 or keep it as a PSA 9?

I sent in 4 autos for dual grading that had absolute perfect autos and they only gave a 10 to 2 of them. I have no idea what causes PSA to be that hard on them but they are.
