Default Ultimate Collection Ultimate Rcs Shields Thread!

My personal favorite rookie cards to chase after each year since 05/06 Ultimate Collection came out are the Ultimate Rookie Shields 1/1. You can view all of mine here if you like. In the past, I have been lucky to own some of the big ones like the Crosby, Ovechkin etc.. which were moved years ago. Here are the ones I still have and would love for this thread to be for collectors to post/share their Ultimate Rookie Shields. Ultimate Collection make a few different shields, this thread is specifically to see the Ultimate Rookie shields that are rc parallel version (Same Card number that the true rc card has in the set) not Signature Logos, not retro shields, not Jumbo Materials, etc.… Those others are AMAZING cards but trying to keep this to strictly Ultimate Rookies Shields! Looking forward to seeing what other collectors have in their personal collection or even had pulled in the past or previously owned. So please post them in this thread and I will update mine as well as they come in. If possible, can we make this a thread for members enjoying other collectors cards not eBay sellers using this thread to spam their cards they have for sell? (rustyisin, yes I am talking to u )
Curious what other members favorite year of Ultimate Rc design is? I am actually leaning towards 15/16 or 06/07 which I unfortunately no longer have any in my p.c. to show an example of
For the Poll, Please post the year of the card you are posting. Don't want to post pictures of other collectors cards that I don't own so please help this thread by posting yours, so we can choose best year of the set. There might have been one year they were not made as well? just confirmed, not made in 12/13 since Ultimate collection was not produced that year.

07/08

08/09

09/10

13/14

15/16

These are all great cards. Unfortunately, there aren't very many big names left over from those years I don't think. This may be a sparsely posted thread. Not due to lack of quality but from lack of quantity.

Not looking for just "Big Names" I have many NOT big names in my collection.
I beg to differ on lack of Quantity, just did some research reviewing the checklists on Upper Deck's website and there have been a ton made, 428 to be exact! They were debuted in 05/06 Ultimate Collection.
Here is the breakdown per year:

05/06 - 37 made
06/07 - 30 made
07/08 - 42 made
08/09 - 41 made
09/10 - 38 made
10/11 - 42 made
11/12 - 40 made
12/13 - 14 made
13/14 - 44 made
14/15 - 40 made
15/16 - 60 made

The OP asked me to post my example of the 05/06 ultimate rookie shield. I don't normally post scans of this card but since it once belonged to the OP many years ago I'm happy to show it off for him. Enjoy!

My one and only 10/11 Jacob Markstrom.

Funny story. I bought the redemption card and redeemed it. Not sure how long it took but I finally got it from UD. I personally didn't notice anything wrong with it as I saw a red jersey and assumed it was right because of the Florida colors. Then a couple of weeks(maybe 1, can't remember) I get a call from UD customer service regarding my card. They wanted me to send it back. I was getting nervous and had some telling me to keep it as I might not get it back. This is when someone pointed out the shield wasn't Florida's. Still people said even if it's an error, keep it just in case. I personally didn't want an error card so I took the chance. They ended up fixing the card(surprise UD made contract to fix it) and as a thank you for sending it back, they gave me an Markstrom Numbers Mark auto which I needed at the time and a Crosby auto. I think what happened was they put Thomas McCollum's Red Wings shield onto the Markstrom and had the Markstrom shield for Thomas McCollum. McCollum was also a redemption and the red jersey makes sense for the Red Wings. What's also cool but could be an error is on the back of my card, I'm 99% sure it says "Game Used Card" and not"Event Used Card".

That is a great card and even better story. I would have done the same thing that you did but not many other collectors would have taken the risk to send it back. Cheers to UD for making the situation right and great story to have connected with the card.

I have a similar story that did not end up so well originally but all worked out in the end. I purchased in 2006 the Ovechkin Ultimate rc shield redemption on eBay. I redeemed it and after many months...... nothing. So I contacted UD and they said that card was missing but they would provide me with an update asap. A few weeks pass, Karvin or Chris can't remember which one calls me from UD and says god news/bad news. Good news they found the card, bad news they did not want to send it since it was damaged beyond belief and they REFUSED to remake card. Some B.S on how the plates to make the card were destroyed once the card was made to protect the integrity of the product....YADA YADA YADA!
So they knew I paid a ton ($4500) so they offered to send a few additional cards to help compensate for the damaged card that BTW I was told fell between two desks at the UD Office. When the card arrived it truly was Horrendous, however UD did help lesson the blow with a few sweet additional cards that I was able to move to cut the costs of the damage card in 1/2. I had the card in my P.C for many years but it beyond bothered me that Ovie's best rc card IMHO was this damaged so I ended it up selling it at the peak of the Ovechkin craze for about a $20K profit so it all ended beyond well!!
Card actually looked like 1/8 of it was put into a shredder, no joke worse card condition I have ever seen in my life.
P.S Interesting side note, I had the card at the National in 2006 or 2007 can't remember which year and it was in a display case of a friend of mine who was set up. Some beyond sketchy guy saw it and offered to "restore" it for $500. I said this is a card not a car and to get lost. Shady side of this hobby I was not aware of until that moment that these clowns existed in this hobby. Then all of the sudden next few months it was a ton of Card trimmers stories all over the internet so made sense why I was approached.

Interesting story. Surprised that they sent out the damaged card or did you argue with them? Unless they figured damaged card plus extras was better then no card but a lot of extras. I'm waiting on a 1/1 from Panini (no license so no hope?)and someone said Gudbransson might have not signed. Nonetheless I noted that I would take the Markstrom/Gudbransson unsigned but no luck. It was wait or ask for a replacement.

You might be the saltiest person on these boards. Maybe because you are also apparently very wealthy you don't care to see these cards, most of us peasants appreciate even seeing these cards because we could never afford them.

First off thanks for your post, I don't think he gets it....some of us love seeing other collectors cards. I look at these various threads daily and enjoy seeing cards in other collectors collections. With regard to his wealth, first off money doesn't buy class! 2ndly, if he was that affluent he would not need to be spamming his cards in every thread and on every board possible if he was that well off
Lastly, "And Haters going to hate" yes I did just quote Taylor Swift

To be fair to UD, they originally had no intention of sending it....however there was also no way to replace it. Remember Ultra high-end really started at that time so it was not like today where there would be so many opportunities to replace it with other high end cards they have in inventory.
With regard to Panini, good luck personally speaking they have been a nightmare for me to deal with. Once UD regains a basketball license in a year or two I will praise the day I no longer have to support/collect their products. However to be fair, they do produce some amazing basketball products to break/collect!

15-16 was my pick simply because the shield is more centered.

That is one of the reasons I picked it as well. They also look much better in person then the scan/pictures do for one reason or another

you mean, you love for other to see your collector cards. I get that.

How many different threads do you need to create to boast about your collection?

"Ultimate Collection Ultimate Rcs Shields Thread!"

"My McDavid PC So Far, Love to see others!"

"October Pickups so Far"

"My National Pickups!"

"Mailday: One of the best I have had in Years!"

And you have a whole website created to parade your collection like a peacock.
I guess you called in sick for those classes on humility

Hopefully u will sell one soon, so u can buy a life!

Personally, I enjoy seeing Cup Dynasty's breaks and and seeing his collection in these threads. If you don't like seeing other people's cards and are jealous of their collections, then why bother visiting sites like this. Just calling it as I see it, since I have done a lot of deals with Cup Dystasty over the last 10 years and is one of the best people to deal with.

Love this thread, and I love seeing other collectors cards. It's called supporting one another in this great hobby, not tearing others down. That's not what a community is all about.

He (or anyone else) has the right to show off any card they want. It's as simple as that

Mark is just making show and tell threads like everyone else on every board, not sure what's wrong with that? We should be grateful he even shows his cards or else we wouldn't be able to see amazing cards like these. Im not sure what your deal is man but honestly if you don't have anything nice to say, why say anything at all.
