I’m curious if the completed auctions will increase and new sales records are obtained during the National and soon after. I’m starting to picked up multiple cards of the early releases.

Though I will be attending the national, I agree with monkeymcgee --
I think the most important thing for this set is No Gimmicks.
I love the set and (almost) everything about it, and hope to collect it forever.
BUT, once there is an 'exclusive', or an auto, or an error correction, or basically anything that requires me to buy (or feel the need to own) anything other than the three weekly cards, I'm out.

I will even go one step further...

If errors continue to happen without being corrected, I will take that as Topps having not enough pride in their own product, and not enough care for their customers, leading me to no longer being a customer of this product.

I see absolutely no excuse for the errors that are out there now. This is NOT a labor of love. They are NOT losing money or breaking even on this product. They should take more care in making sure blatant errors don't exist with the Living Set.

I absolutely understand the expectation for topps to provide a quality, accurate product to the customer.

I guess I see it this way:
If topps decides, you know what, the typos are unacceptable.
I feel like the solution there is to actually spend the time spell checking and having someone look over the copy/text, not by retroactively correcting errors when/if they happen.

Logically, if you (or 'they') think about the time, money, and resources required to make the business decision to 'correct errors', they can eliminate that need by spending the extra 5-10 minutes proof-reading each card (30 minutes per week!) prior to printing.

In the end, error cards do not need to be a problem -- they can be prevented from ever existing in the first place.
It's up to topps to solve it internally, just like they seem to have solved (for the most part), the shipping/cardstock problem.

I'm with you about the pride element (although having had to read my rants on this subject before, I'm sure you all are aware of that ). However, I agree with BH34 that errors that make it into the wild should stay that way. The errors need to be fixed before these go out.

I've actually decided to start moving my extras. I'm losing confidence in the set, but I'm continuing with the weekly additions unless the gimmicks start or these errors continue to be so frequent.

I agree and that's my point. If they don't care enough to spend an extra 30 minutes per week making sure these types of errors don't exist, I'm not sure I should care enough about this product to be a collector of it.

How I see it...I'll be collecting something that the creator cares little for and take almost no pride in. That's not something I actually care to collect.

But maybe that's just me. I'm still here for now. I hope to be here for as long as the set exists. I won't ever be married to it though.
