The design this year is great. I like the inserts as well. I just wish they wouldn't have done the manufactured relics as hits. Those should be relegated to retail blaster promos and such. It's a bad thing to pull out of hobby.

The set is 75 cards and there are 19 per hobby case, none in Jumbo. Each player is about 1:4 cases. So compared to the base cards that's about a 40:1 ratio of Base/SP.

What do I do if I was shorted an insert. Had one jumbo that only had 1 relic.

Also, in my 3 jumbos I did hit the redemption b and chris sale in the name "E"

The Stars of the Game was the last one for us to see in person, and so far, its our favorite. A really sharp looking insert set.
Stars of the Game is a very sharp insert set, one I think I'll be chasing down.

In other collation news, I did 2 blasters.

I just busted a single fat pack from Walmart and hit a gold Acuna highlights insert. It's serially #d/150 on the back. I can't find any that's sold. So not sure if it's rare or not. I did get a regular and a gold in my 1 fat pack if that helps.

Yes. 2017 Series 1 was the last TRU set. Opening Day and on were at Meijer stores.

yes.

last year they obviously just picked up the ones already manufactured for TRU.

but that left open the question of whether they would commission new ones.

the whole peg was gone from the initial stocking in my town, before I stopped by.

I'm not seeing as many any 1-day auctions this time, in fact I'm running across many 10-day ones, and 7-day ones, but I am only researching some of the better hits so I can price my own so maybe that's why. To me it seems 1-day auctions are becoming less and less, although for a product like this where the cheap, common stuff like SP and some autos can crash after 24 hours, if you have multiples sometimes 10-15 1-day auctions aren't bad...on the common, cheap stuff
but other stuff like 1/1s, tough sets, big hits, I don't understand that

I really like the 84 relics, surprised they aren't bringing more than regular relics. Even guys like Trout and Ohtani seem to be on the lower side, but they do appear to be quite common too.
Nothing ever seems to be as strong as the Update all-star relics.

Those rock. I love the dual and triple patch relics in Update.

You mean smart money? Everyone knows that base rookie autos, SP's, medallions, and relics all sell best at one day auction on opening night. You won't touch those prices a month from now.

Same with the "scarce" Mother's Day parallel I pulled and the "Advanced Stats" parallel I pulled, both of commons.

And then on the flip side, the 150 years insert set is great, but is 150 cards and seeded 1:8 packs, meaning that it would take 4+ cases to complete and is therefore impossible to complete for the average collector. Even the "1984" inserts now take almost 2 cases to complete.

Topps needs to reduce the number of parallels to just one or two (black/chrome would be my choices), and make insert sets small enough that collectors can complete them at a reasonable cost. For example, they could have broken up the 150 years set into three 50-card sets, one each in series 1, series 2, and update and seeded it 1:4, thus enabling a set to be built from a single case.
The fact that insert sets are large enough so that a card is found frequently but the full set takes multiple cases to put together is what gives the cards market value.

Those color parallels you don't want - I'd bet there is another collector who is building a color set and would trade you inserts you do want for parallels you don't.

Base rookie autos can jump during spring training. But figuring out which ones to hold back takes the same sort of work as prospecting, so it's safer to sell rather than hold. Otherwise, I agree.
