Now I just read that Ballard is saying it's a "high ankle issue"

I don't trust a word that comes out of anyone's mouth there, including Luck's. At this point, I don't expect him to play, even in the regular season, until I see him trot out there and actually play. As far as I'm concerned, it's Jacoby's show.

How about Indy tanks, goes 2-14 and picks either Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert. They trade Luck for 3 first rounders and wins a Super Bowl with a killler D and a QB making just a couple million with all the other money spent on the rest of the roster. Does that make me a bad fan for even saying all that?..

The Indy PR staff deserves a pullitzer prize for all this creativity regarding Luck's status.

Last year was throwingtheDukegate, now it's a million different possibilities with a leg...or foot.

It’s such a mess. My guess is he misses the first two games, which are on the road, and Irsay makes everyone believe he’s starting the home opener, which he probably won’t. I have zero faith in anything that comes out of Irsay’s mouth.

I really hope he kicks all these injuries. I actually want to see him succeed. One of the most talented and humble guys out there. Hard not to root for him.

I wish they would just be straight up for a change, this sounds exactly like the shoulder injury all over again. Frustrating!

^^^A qb’s throwing shoulder is a zillion times more serious.High ankle sprain, myositis ossificans whatever it is it’s been going on for months now. He’s gonna have to play with some pain the same as 99% of the NFL. It’s not even his plant foot that’s the problem, so I don’t see him missing any time.

Will his legacy be that he could never stay healthy? Hope not as he seems like a talented player and a good dude.

Colts still have a shot at winning the division this year though it now seems like the Texans to lose, though if I'm Indy, I'm all-out tanking for Trevor Lawrence in 2020, seriously.

I am really surprised at how many fans are shocked by this news. I am not that shocked at all. He has not been right since that shoulder injury and his heart was just not in it. I dont blame him for wanting to move on while he can still function. It was more the front offices fault than his since they nearly got him killed by never protecting him. People calling him a scumbag are clueless as well. He did what was best for him and his family. He also gave up lot of money when he could have just milked the team for years when his body or his heart where no longer in it. Sucks for Colts fans but as some have said it's just football and life goes on. At least the Colts can move forward from the while Luck saga and start fresh. They can draft another star QB and build around him. They could be right back in the mix in 2-3 years. It really doesn't take long these days in NFL. Unless your the Lions of course.

They all-out tanked for Andrew Luck. How'd that work out for them?

Pretty good. They made a zillion dollars on jersey sales, merch and tickets. Definitely justified whatever they paid him for his 7 or 8 years with the team

That's something that needs to be factored in. He isn't playing behind that disaster of an offensive line he had in 2017. This is one of the best offensive lines I've seen on any team. Indy has a nice group of rushers and receivers. The defense is significantly improved. By no means am I saying Jacoby Brissett or Chad Kelly can replace someone like Andrew Luck. But this team has some real talent that doesn't come close to anything we saw when Ryan Grigson and Chuck Pagano were running the clown show. We have real leads like Chris Ballard and Frank Reich. We have a top notch offensive line with playmakers at all three "Skill" positions. We have an All-Pro leader at LB and a crowded defensive backfield with a lot of young talent. Add Justin Houston to the mix and improved pass rushers and I don't see this team laying down for anyone. I'm sad for Luck, but still very excited for the future.

Greg, you summed up my feelings exactly. Nicely said.
