Lol. Not when you're years from your prime and your team was projected to be in the lottery.

Some serious morons on this thread. Go back to your "check on my Shawn Kemp card" and "I'm a true collector and I hate investors" threads.

We’ll find out soon enough!

Hoping the injury softens prices and flushed out the weak hands who make buys with horizons of days to weeks. There are some biggies on eBay that I really want.

In all seriousness, will this cause some to panic sell? I was late to the party and want to pick up some of his mid-end stuff.

Doubtful. I’d love a silver Prizm though!

Edit: and Jordan needs to get this guy some better shoes! Those diamond J’s have hurt him a few times!

Because of a sprained ankle?

Absolutely will.

Even if he didn't get injured there was going to be a pullback. $2k for a Prizm base isn't sustainable unless he's at the top of the news. It was inevitable unless they somehow won the Finals, which wasn't going to happen.

But the good news is that assuming Dallas puts together a decent offseason, all eyes will be on Luka once next season starts.

For the Luka fans in this thread, sorry this happened. Being a Ben Simmons fan it's fresh in my mind how much it sucks to have this happen to your guy. I hope you guys keep contributing around here, if indeed this is the season's end for it. I'll have my eyes on who sticks around and who bails.

Luka will most likely play game 4. Not sure about the "RIP Luka" sentiment lol

TJ with yet another L. Luka will return. If not for 4 then 5. It doesn't look serious.

IDK guys... he was limping pretty bad on the way out.

I hope I'm wrong, but Luka has had ankle problems in the past (albeit his other ankle) that have kept him out weeks. He's getting an MRI tomorrow, so I guess we'll know then.

To me, this just looks like more than a 1-2 day injury. Again, would love to be wrong on this.

That's an ankle roll, as non serious as it gets. I'll trust the certified Doctor of PT in the thread instead.

Dude, that looks bad, but look at anybody who sprains their ankle. It all looks the same, and even for him he just didn't have that much weight on that ankle when it happened. He has chronic ankle instability, super common among cutting athletes. His ATFL probably has been substantially damaged his whole playing career. All this is gonna do is tear some scar tissue that was laid down to act as his ATFL. It'll have some internal bleeding and have some swelling and bruising, but he'll be fine. His ankle being plantarflexed (pointing down) will typically protect the CFL and PTFL (these ligaments are involved as degree of severity of ankle sprain increases).

MRI in this case is unnecessary, really, but they have the 1 million dollar machine to use at will, so why not take a picture, right? X-ray will come back negative, MRI will show mainly chronic ligament injury, I'm sure.

We'll see, I could be totally wrong, but I don't think so. I look forward to hearing the MRI results.

The biggest concern would be a high ankle sprain, which takes weeks to heal even with aggressive therapy and rest. Especially in a sport like basketball that requires a ton of lateral movement and pushing off to generate lift. At least he had the balls to go out and try and give it a go, but the way he was gingerly limping back to the locker room after the game wasn't too encouraging. Most mild sprains a player can gradually work through the pain and lessen it by being up and active.

Hope he doesn't miss any time.

With high ankle sprains it's typically a non contact thing and almost looks like an Achilles injury rather than an ankle roll which is totally different.

Not necessarily at all. It happens quite often in football due to increased pressure loads from big bodies landing on top of ankles and adding additional force during awkward tackles. There's only so much range of motion the tendons and ligaments in the foot can take.

It's a pretty worst case scenario here, so chances are it probably isn't. But that's something we'll have to wait for the MRI to uncover.

Honestly not a terrible thing imho. If he can't go for the rest of the year he averaged incredible numbers the only two full games of his young playoff career. Hof of hof numbers. That's the kinda stuff that keeps people engaged in Luka as a prospect and a product.

If he plays... and plays well? That's legendary. If he plays and doesn't play well? That's injury.

All and all this isn't too bad. I don't believe the mavs where gonna get a ring this year.

Also, please don't feed the PBM troll... lonely people say silly things to get attention.

Having just purchased my 'biggest' Luka card to date just this morning, my heart skipped a beat before seeing the replay. Clearly an ankle sprain. Worst case he loses this series (almost a given anyway). I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw that replay.

Need Luka to hire the trainer that fixed Steph Curry's ankles.
