So you agree they are losing revenue?

ETA: And let’s add lost market share to that as well. I don’t think people realize how significant it is for PSA to shutter all but high end business.

You're contradicting yourself.

Regardless if AstrosFan17 would pay $30 for a blaster, if other people will (as you've stated) thats what its worth. Your individual value doesnt matter, when we are talking general value. We all have opinions as to what we would individually pay.

Obviously most rips will not yield $60 worth of cards.. Many wont return $20 worth of cards to cover the MSRP. That doesnt mean anything though.

People arent paying $60 for a blaster because they are guaranteed to get $3.16 worth of cards. Its for the unknown. The opportunity, albeit a small one.

Specifically, we're talking about two different things - value sealed vs average value once ripped.

By the resale value of the cards you get from opening that box. And regardless of what people on these boards would have you believe you are hard pressed to get $10 worth of cards for a $20 blaster unless you get INCREDIBLY LUCKY.

And this is why I continually call the people who pay those outlandish prices degenerate gamblers and idiots. The value of a product can only be decided by the value of what it will contain on average. When MSRP is already higher than that number then it’s insanity to pay above MSRP.

Sealed product usually sells for a premium. Its value is not strictly dependent on the potential value of cards contained within. 1993 SP boxes sell for 5-6k. You know how many raw Jeters you could buy? Or even how many PSA 8s? A few.

If you buy a box for 6k youre either doing it as an investment (hold sealed), as a box collector or gambling on pulling a PSA 9-10 worthy Jeter. Really, what are the odds of that?

It’s basically the same thing as a stock price. a stock has a fundamental value that is based on the cash flows the company will generate into perpetuity. Many stocks trade at a price that exceeds that value.

Same thing with wax. The market cap of all of a particular offering typically exceeds the value of all the cards contained in those boxes. That means wax is typically worth more sealed than busted. Grading is the only way to close that gap, but when you effectively can’t grade raw cards the value of busted wax is even less.

Looks like no cards this week. Seriously doubt they'll do it while they're offering free Same Day Delivery all week.

Most likely. I mean, I'll be watching just in case. But my Select megas from Friday still haven't even shipped yet. Lots of orders to still take care of.

I think that offer is just for groceries and essential items. I know cards are essential to us but don't think they qualify according to Target.

Glad to see someone else is waiting for the Select megas as well. I thought it might just be me and I would be getting a cancellation.

Mine shipped on Friday! Still waiting on the shipping notice for blasters which were purchased the same day. Now, the MLB shop on the other hand... shipped on Thursday and has slowly been making its way up the east coast with no delivery date in sight

They had the 24 pack retail display boxes at $120 and hobby boxes at $250. Limit of 3 each.

Bought 3 retail boxes.

They occasionally post that they have blasters and I think they’re $30 through them. You can call them apparently, but I did everything through their site

Must be nice to have them fulfill your order. I only ordered one box, all I even wanted and they couldn't bother to fulfill that.

Woah, they cancelled on you? I ordered probably 90 seconds after they went live.

Yup... they told me that Topps oversold. I wasn't within a few minutes of them going live, but they didn't show Sold Out for quite some time after I purchased. Just frustrates me because I WOULD have ordered more from the Target drop on Friday if I had known I wasn't getting that retail box. This is the third time that I've ordered something from Topps, either directly or through a partner, only to have them cancel a week or more later because they 'oversold'.

WOW, seeing now that people have been offered fancash or credit to their accounts. Is that what happened with you? That is absolutely wild. I’m sorry man

The blasters I got from Target site said expected delivery June 8, so I'm not worried about the lack of a shipping notification just yet.

Nah, they refunded my Paypal, and actually faster than they estimated. They said 2-7 business days and I got the refund Monday (the next business day).

Anyway, I'm hoping Target has another Bowman drop this week or next. I have been watching the auctions on eBay and it looks like the prices have been eroding on the secondary market, so I'm thinking if they have another drop I'll have a shot at some more.

Friday 7:15 was the mega drop and around 8:00 for the blasters. That’s what I’m targeting this week. I saw blasters at the Chantilly being sold by Steel City for $55 and burst out laughing. Other vendors had them for $40. People are wild man. Hopefully prices come down to reasonable prices
