I’ve always collected baseball but just started looking at basketball. What are your thoughts on Mosaic? I’m assuming not much since it hasn’t been mentioned?

Not a fan of Panini products in general, but I think looking at certain sets/inserts/parallels and NOT individual products is what will "stand the test of time".

Agree with Kaboom, as a modern example that WILL stand the test of time. I don't own any, but they have good crossover appeal (with comics, for example). PMGs are iconic, but not the entire Metal Universe sets year over year.

And of course, the obvious factors, such as having on card autos, numbered cards, and the above mentioned good design.

Oh wait, Noir has all those?
HAha, well, great very important genius minds think alike no?

Kaboom is such an interesting question. Funny, because while I respect the unique artistic stylization of the 1st year I actually prefer the later years and those designs. A lot of people prefer the 1st year. I'm very curious to see how Kabooms hold up in the long run, I like them; they are flashy, gaudy, in your face, and like you say have a broad appeal factor. Some people don't like them for those factors, but for me I like them FOR those qualities. Especially when the action pose of the player fits the KABOOM brand (ie, monster dunk or something along those lines).

How do you like the Blank Slate inserts? I actually like those a lot, they have an elegant, clean, simple look to them that I enjoy.

Blank Slate inserts appeal to me like the same as the early Skybox Autographics cards. Almost austere, understated, letting the layout-appropriat photo speak for itself.

It still amazes me that the early Autographics didn't have the player's name on the card front. Not THAT was a brave move, and has definitely stood the test of time.

IMO... Next Day autos are the single best rookie auto outside of some of the Ultra high end RPA (NT, Immac, Etc)

The sneaker boiz don't really get into them, since they aren't shiny and not grade well.... which makes me like them even more!
