My cards went from scanned to graded in about 5 business days.

I checked the pop reports, as it looks like my cards are (probably) the only ones that would show (hockey ain’t that popular).

Out of the five cards I submitted:

Two got 9.5s, which I’m happy with.

Two got 9.0s, one which I thought could potentially go a bit lower.

One got an 8.5, which also got a BGS 8.5. I cracked it out for fun and to see their grading standards when I thought I’d be sticking with this hobby longer.

Overall, if these are in fact my cards in the Pop report (99.9% sure), then I’m happy with the grades.

They’ll all be going on eBay as soon as I get them, as 4 months in this hobby after 15 years off was about 3 months too long. I guess we’ll see how these labels sell!

Beyond happy with my first cards in last week. Looks like I should start getting back a package from them about once a week now that they are on time. All that being said while PSA stuff is still stacked up from last year.

Looks like there’s only 2 UD Jordan Powerdecks I saw on eBay and both graded by Beckett. Considering it’s a CD of sorts it’s not surprising it wasn’t graded. Looks like PSA won’t grade them either.

Are anyone else's HGA slabs warped? Mine don't lay flat on a table, and there's an obvious curve down the length of the slab when you look at its edge. This (again) seems like an odd issue to have, and I'm wondering if this is the norm for them

Rough return yesterday. Two of the 5 cards were returned not graded (to thin), 1 card damaged during the slabbing process (about a $300 card), and 1 very crooked label. The one good card looks awesome with the new cleaner label.

So far customer service has been on top of it so we'll see how it goes. This is the first card I've ever had damaged while grading so fingers crossed. I declared and paid insurance for the full value so hopefully it won't be a hassle if they cash me out.

Posted mock ups of their horizontal slabs. I can’t wait to submit some tatis 410. I think these will look cool and different.

Same thing happened to me for about the same value card, the damaged one had a very crooked label.

Agreed very cool. My horizontal cards don't look great on display in normal slabs.

Well, those slabs won’t fit in my current slab storage, but I like the initiative to think outside the box. I would like to see them lose HGA logo on the right side and use it for more label space, the flips do get crowded with description and player names, especially dual patch/autos. That could be some valuable real estate to add more info onto the label.

They are doing this to keep using same label. They just bought new printers so why buy more for these slabs that will probably be a small percentage of what they will grade. I think it is a great option to have. Surprised other companies haven't tried it yet.

They should give us the option of which slab we get. I sent in an Lebron Tribute dunk, and I think I would prefer a classic case.

I still like their product but the error rate on 30 cards (2 orders) was pretty bad. Half of my cards had the new labels and the other half had crooked/miss-cut older labels. There is a big difference in cut quality.

1 damaged card
2 very crooked labels
3 variation typos
4 ungraded cards (to thin)

...and a partridge in a pear tree.

20% error rate

Slabs looked great but seemed to be very slightly curved at first. The epoxy sealant seems to warp the cases a little when it's curing. I've had the slabs for a few days in Arizona and most are now flat. Very strange and unexpected.

Well, so far my experience with HGA customer service has been horrible. My order was several days past the guaranteed 30-day time, so I reached out to the refunds email address twice and never got a response.

When my order finally arrived, 3 of the 5 cards had label issues (which I've detailed elsewhere in this thread). Of the 2 that didn't have a label mistake, 1 had a patch of glue residue on the back. So 4/5 of my slabs had problems that shouldn't have made it past quality control. I contacted them using the messenger on their site, mentioning the slab issues and their lateness, and they directed me to the refunds email address that I had used the week before and said to send them back the slabs that have mistakes.

At this point I'd pretty much lost faith in them, so I instead asked them to please just refund and return my 3 other submissions that are in their possession. They immediately canceled those orders without responding to my message. I followed up a day later asking when I should expect updates on the refund and the return, and they said that the refund should be processed in 2-5 business days. I followed-up again asking when I should expect a tracking number for my cards, and it's been another day and they still haven't answered.

Your mileage may vary, but as someone who was optimistic enough to submit 4 orders, as soon as I get my money and cards back I'm done with this company.

tl;dr: HGA missed their guaranteed deadline and ignored my messages, messed up 80% of my submission, and then has continued to duck my messages when I asked them to return my remaining orders.

I feel your pain although they've responded to my service issues pretty quickly. I have 5 more test orders out of mostly PC cards waiting for grades. Hopefully they'll get you taken care of.

For your warped slabs, did they flatten out after a few days? I don't know anything about how epoxy works but my slabs flattened out after after a few days. A few YouTube videos on epoxy taught me it can take awhile for it to fully cure. The sonic sealing process is starting to make more sense to me now.

Interesting -- I just checked and mine are still warped. Hopefully mine flatten out with time too

That’s all I need to know when deciding who’s gonna grade my cards
