How do you back engineer the exact grades?

I'm pretty certain I just got two 10s on cards I REALLY wanted 10s on using this method.

Start a set (or if you have one already remove all the cards from it) with the card in question so it is a fresh set. Type in the cert to the What If and you will get the exact grade because its the only one counting in the weighted average. You can figure out your grades starting in Assembly using this method.

Got my grades from my Bulk Modern submission which was sent in Sep 2020 and entered in Dec 20. Was in QA1 and 2 for about 6 weeks. It probably took so long as they were working out what to upcharge me on. Was initially upcharged $3900, but they tried to charge me $50 on 49 PSA 10's going on the $2700 sale a few months back. I argued that a PSA 10 recently sold for $750 and the 'Auction Prices' section on the PSA website hadn't been updated. They knocked the charge down by $30 per card, which was fair. They also knocked a $200 upcharge for a card down to $75, so overall I had to pay an extra $2500 in upcharges. I don't agree with it, but I'm just relieved that the grades matched to near enough what I expected. I was hoping for $210000 in return value from the submission and I ended up getting around $200000 worth of graded cards which I'm satisfied with.

I didn't send my best cards on purpose as I anticipated that they would downgrade them. I sent mainly stickers which were slightly off-centered, going for PSA 9's. I did send in 80 of the same card in the hope that they would grade them 10's as I've previously achieved 4 PSA 10's of the same card from a past submission and knew that it's a well made card, which is easy to grade.

Overall, I got the following grades after submitting 211 cards:

PSA 10 - 64
PSA 9 - 99 (3 PSA 9 OC)
PSA 8 - 36
PSA 7 - 2
PSA 6 - 8 (7 stickers and 1 card)
N8 - 2

I will use PSA again for another Bulk submission.

I have noticed an excess of PSA 9 and 8's. I sent 4 of the same sticker and ended up getting all 8's instead of 9's that I expected. I also got an 8 on another sticker from the same set, so I'm guessing it was the centering.

I mainly got 10's on the less valuable cards and 9's on the more valuable one's.

It's worth querying the upcharge if you have evidence that the card/s has decreased in value.

Wow...impressive submissions ($1000 avg value per card!). Jordans?

How long are we generally running between assembly and q-checks for bulk orders right now?

Yeah I was definitely in the don't look camp for years but after waiting upwards of 12 months+ on my current orders, I will probably check them as soon as I can. I guess there is a chance the grades could change checking in Assembly so they may not be final.

Thanks. Most are probably worth around $750 each at the moment with some of the PSA 10's pushing the figure up. Only submitted the one Michael Jordan, A Question of Sport 1994 UK card. Got a 9. Was hoping for a 10 on that one.

Shame PSA don't do subgrades.

How do you store your cards? I've been storing mine in Semi Rigid Card Savers at home, but noticed there's dust particles sticking to the card sleeves inside which is causing indentations/dimples to the surface. Also, the plastic has slightly cracked in some of the Semi Rigid card savers, which has indented the card.

I think going forward, I'll have to store them in Toploaders and transfer them into the Semi Rigid holders before I send them for grading. Also use a new card sleeve before I send them out.

I've found about 15 cards out of hundreds that have been damaged due to the way they have been stored. I've probably stacked the Card Savers up too high and they have compressed together.

That's the problem with submitting bulk orders to PSA and BGS during lockdown. Dust particles can get inside the Semi Rigids over time causing some of the cards to have surface pimples/indentations.

I was in Assembly for about 4 weeks. My submission was Bulk Modern. Think the Ultra Modern/TCG service is quicker.

Perfect. Thank you. I'll stop hitting "refresh" for a few weeks.

TCG seems to be the slowest for me. I've got everything from my August 2020 order except TCG

You're talking about cards waiting to be sent for grading I think? If so, google "graded card bags"...they're fairly cheap investment especially if you have big dollar cards like the last bulk order lol. You can probably get several card saver 1s into a single "bag" or sleeve. I have mine in card saver 1s and then stored inside the original card saver boxes and then a plastic bag around the card saver boxes...keeps them mostly dust free.

You mind elaborating on how this works? This is crazy if true lol....

I've trying to create a set in the set registry but it keeps saying there are no available checklists.

Go back and read the op from the guy I quoted. He explains it well.

Yeah, I'll just put them all in a tote sideways so there's not too much pressure. Will get some of those bags. Thanks. Shouldn't have stacked so many up. Damaged 3 cards and pierced about 20.

Got about 800 cards that need sending off for grading. Well over $1m's worth. Glad I didn't damage my Steph Curry and Lionel Messi rookies.

Know someone who put post it notes inside the Semi Rigid holders. Ended up getting 7's instead of 9's and 10's. Cost him thousands.

Oh okay thanks didn't see that. I've never used this set registry stuff so it's kinda confusing. Keeps saying I have no available checklists have no clue what that means

Ya its not exactly intuitive if you've never used the registry before.

Awesome. I think that’s the first I’ve seen for a 2021 received by date moving to assembly for bulk!
