Missing the playoffs in Edmonton is exponentially worse than missing the playoffs at home, with his family in Chicago.

He'll go somewhere with a plausible chance to win another Cup.

I was asking from their perspective but I’m not sure he has a no trade clause.

They need goaltending and he is the best viable option. The longer they wait the bigger the hole they have to try and dig out of.

Fleury has a 10-team no trade list, so that will limit his movement even further than simply teams that can potentially make it work. I really don't see him moving to anywhere other than a potential starting role on a Cup contender.

If I'm Edmonton, I'm looking for a long-term solution in goal, and Fleury is not that.

they're not as bad as their horrible run suggested nor are they as good as the hot start with like a 75% PP. They've managed to spread their offense and created some depth. Helps they arent getting .850 goaltending.

The Oilers inability to draft and develop a goaltender has killed them for years. The last goalie they drafted that made any real NHL contribution was Dubnyk, yikes.

Not sure I'd trust the current regime to identify young talent and actually develop them into an NHL starting netminder.

From Boca never heard of this guy... learn something new everyday

3 in a row under new coach. Was Tippett THAT bad?

Nope.
They were 5-1 before the firing, but 0-7 before that after a couple of wins. And before that 0-6 after a very hot start to the season. Now they are 3-0. The Oil really aren't a powerhouse but a middle of the road streaky team with some extreme top talent and a few other decent forwards, a middling D and below average goaltending. Take away McD or Drais and the Oil sink like a lump of crude tar.
The Canucks went 8-0-1 under Boudreau after Greene was canned, and now are 16-6-4 with Bruce after an 8-15-2 start. Was Travis THAT bad too?
Players needed a change.
