Some Ovi Love

Yesterday, I spent some alone time with my Ovi cards…cuddling them and letting them know everything will eventually be okay. While doing that, I realized many of the cards are not seen very often…so I pulled out a few to share. My favorites are often not the most valuable or the most sought after by others – but the ones that were challenging to find or have a memorable story of how I actually got them.

I think I probably have a copy of nearly every UD Ovi card from 05/06 thru 07/08 (excluding 1/1’s)..and maybe all of the 05/06 ITG Heores & Prospects. If there is a card within that timeframe that anyone is curious to see, I would be happy to dig it out and post it.

I am just listing these in alpha order by set name:

Beehive “Gold”. I think this one is also referred to as “Beehive Back”. Less than 25 of these have been graded by PSA & BGS…so seems to be a fairly rare non-serial numbered parallel. I have seen a ton of 05/06 Beehive Ovi base, red, blue, beige cards on Ebay….but rarely see this one.

Beehive Matte /25.

Black Diamond Gold /10.

Hot Prospects White Hot /5.

Ice Premieres Patch Auto /10….have always loved the look of this card.

MVP Platinum /25. A tough pull from a lower-end product.

Parkhurst Auto. I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these….not that I look all that hard – but I think it is another tough one to find.

A few from SP Authentic..

Limited /100. Some of these pop up from time to time, but a great patch on this one.

Marks Of Distinction /25…nice clean looking design.

Octographs /3. I like this card not because of the other players on the card, but because it is the lowest serial-numbered rookie-year card other than 1/1’s (and other than the printing plates, there are not many 1/1’s either)

SP Game Used Auto Draft 1/1. One of the few rookie-year auto 1/1’s that is not a parallel or printing plate.

SPx Spxcitement Rookies Spectrum /5. Shiny!

The Cup Honorable Numbers /8.

Not sure which of these I like better from Ultimate..
Ultimate Debut Threads Patch Auto /10. I would be really surprised if anyone has seen a copy of this card in the recent past.

Ultimate Marquee Attractions Auto /10.

There are a few that I like from Ultra, but I am going to go with these two:
Ultra Scoring Kings Patch Auto /10

Ultra Difference Makers Patch Auto /5

Upper Deck High Gloss /10

And lastly, one of my all-time favorites because of the difficulty in tracking it down….

Thanks. I do like the BD gold. It is one of those cards that looks much nicer in person. I like the 06/07 and 07/08 gold designs more.

The emerald version /25 is nice too, but the emerald was removed in 06/07 and I think returned in 2012 as an auto /10. An emerald would have looked great in that 06/07 or 07/08 design.

Sweet Ovi cards.

The 05-06 Parkhurst auto is a fun one. I believe his and Sid's were both redemptions are they were very short printed. Great find with that one.

Wow great stuff OP. The high flood and Black Diamond sp are great! Love hockey patches, so many different unique cuts to them.

That shimmer of gold is a little blinding! Congrats on putting all of those Prizms together. Beautiful doesn't even describe it.

And the serial number on the Red Hot...love it!

I have heard some goalies describe Ovi's shot like a knuckleball coming at you...made me think of this card from 2007-08 Sweet Shot. It isn't serial numbered, but I believe it is an SSP. Below that one is the Signature Shots Stick Signings /25 from the same set.
