I'm thinking there are a number of reasons why there's such a big price drop. Obviously pretty much all card prices are still falling, the offseason is here and I think Select has lost a lot of it's popularity since Panini turned it into a retail product. It used to be one of my favorites, now I don't really care too much for it at all.

Is that a Gold /10 Reggie? Love the Obsidians. True Obsidians seem few and far between.

That’s a gorgeous card (congrats!) but not a true 2018 obsidian. I still think true 2018 obsidians are super undervalued and under appreciated…production run was super limited. I think the print run, even on the base, is incredibly low at ~50+

Yes the True Obsidians are very tough..I had read the consensus was 70-75 previously. But 50 is surely possible. My comment to Reggie was more a remark about the rarity of the True Obsidians, although his
is the preview. I only have two Obsidians in my Luka PC, but would love to add another True Obsidian of some sort.

His Courtside base PSA 10 was hovering around $1500-$2k and the last auction sold for like $900

Which I am totally ok with that Courtside base 10 hovering around the 1000 range. Thats where it should be in my opinion. It was silly when the optic base was at 1000, this makes more sense.

Damn I missed that one. Title was missing "Courtside", which basically cost them a few hundred bucks. One sold the day before that for $1225

Courtsides have definitely gotten annihilated across the board though. I picked up a Trae for $185 last night. I know they're technically base cards but POP is like under 200 or something

lmao its so funny to hear some of u guys.... a lot of u lost on luke even though you wont admit it. those courtside cards were going for stupid crazy money and everyone was all about them still. his cards have dropped a good 50-75% and theres people here still making excuses for the drops by saying "thats where the should have been all along" ect. cards are tanking big time... ive said many times, put your "investments into the stock market, its the only thing that is gauranteed to go up when you've looked at any 15 years in the history of the market including the great depression and the great ressesion. investing in sports cards is stupid. fun to collect, dumb to count on them for long term

Where are Paul pierces cards priced? Best case scenario Luka may be as good as him one day. Something to keep in mind.

Mustang isn't completely off, it just needs some context. Luka's prices have tanked 50-75% from their peak, and while that's true, so have everyone else's, including Jordan/LeBron/Kobe. The difference is a large number of collectors were able to buy their Jordan/LeBron/Kobe's from ~2000-2020 (a 20-year window) and got in on them at basement prices. Luka collectors only had a 1-2 year window to get in early and the truth is, most did not. There are a ton of collectors who bought in 2020-21 and if you did, you lost real money, whereas it's only paper losses for Jordan/LeBron/Kobe collectors; they're still up 10-20x.

I think most in this thread bought (or pulled) pre-2020 so Mustang is speaking to the wrong audience. I was "late" to the Luka game in the summer of 2019 and I'm up 3x net on sales (mostly from 3 big sales) and 10x on overall collection (if I would sell right now). Maybe Mustang needs to post that in some random basketball card facebook group and it'd be accurate.

Anyone snag that rookie galactic last night? Seemed like a strong sale for a PSA 9 but I haven't been following the trend of that card since they show up at auction so rarely.

Very good points.

Those early Luka guys who actually pulled their cards out of packs are doing fine. In fact Luka prices could go down 95% from their peaks and some people would be just fine.

Luka On Card Graded Optic Auto RR haven't really dropped in price. In fact some have went up as well as others. I wouldn't throw ALL Luka cards into one boat.

Right. My point wasn't to say everyone here didn't get in early and will end up losing their shirts. My point was that, it's the exception, not the rule. When compared to Jordan/LeBron/Kobe collectors, a much greater percentage of Luka buyers came in at the wrong time.

I'm headed to a local show Saturday. I'm looking forward to grabbing Luka rookies for 50- 75% less than a year ago, but I don't think that's going to happen.

agree on that. If you bought in the last year, you are probably down
