Default Who will end up having the better career: Ja Morant or Jayson Tatum?

If you have to bet on who will end having the better NBA career when it's all said and done, who would it be Ja or Tatum?

Hard to compare players that play so differently. Tatum's already had a lot more team success going to 3 ECF and a finals appearance. He's a better shooter, defender, perfect NBA body type.

Morant lives in the lane driving to the basket. He's also smaller i worry about the style he plays with injuries ect. He's like 100% athleticism. Reminds me of a young D Rose. Memphis has a really good young team though it'll be interesting to see how they do over the next few year. And if they'll be able to re-sign all of that young talent they've got. They've drafted really well.

Tatum is the more complete player but Morant is clutch.

Ja is exciting to watch which puts him on a different level than Tatum. Tatum's legacy will be based on how many titles he can win. Not sure if he'll ever be in the MVP running.

If Ja can avoid serious injury, he'll be the better player but it's hard to imagine that scenario the way he plays. I hope he stays healthy.

He was averaging 38/8/7 through three games against the Warriors before he got injured.

Tatum because I think his game will translate to a longer career. Just seems that Ja takes a beating going to the rim.

Morant if he can stay out of injury trouble, but like everyone else has said he has a risky play style.

This is what would worry me the most. Fortunately he is still very young and can still grow as a player. He reminds me more of Iverson. My fear would be that he never learns the game and becomes an inefficient scorer in his later years. AI was full of highlights early in his career, but never really evolved away from iso, high volume player. When is athleticism waned, his efficiency went down.

Ja needs to work on off ball skills, working within the offensive flow, and of course defense. Those are the things that will bring him team success in playoffs. If he doesn't he will be a player that puts up big numbers for 6-7 years and not win anything.

This thread needs a poll.

I agree with the general sentiment… Tatum’s game should age better. I think it’ll be interesting to see who has a better three year peak. For that, I’d go Ja.

Doesn't matter because Ja will always be remembered for that goofy crip walk video.

Huh? He was 1st Team All NBA this year. Pretty sure 1st Team All NBA players are typically in the MVP running.

Jaylen outperformed Jaysun in the Finals. And is a more comparable player to Ja, including his limits.

That said, I think Jaysun has the most upside.

If ja could stay healthy ja… but since I doubt he will Tatum will have the longer(healthier) career and therefore when it’s all said and done answer is Tatum.

Ja will have better stats, like a Karl Malone... but Tatum will have a more complete career game and impressionable career, removing trades/injuries as x-factors.

Tatum.

I can't really say I know of a player similar to Ja who has had a better career than Tatum has shown he can have. Ja is a hybrid of AI and DWade IMO. Yes, both all-time greats and HOF'ers, but someone like Tatum can lead a team to a title and that trumps all. Neither AI or DWade (without help obviosuly) did that -- as incredible as it was to how close AI was to doing so.

If Tatum never leads a team to a title, then I'd easily give it to Ja... but I do think he will.

Cool Runnings if he can stay healthy.

Plus I just love rooting for guys that are the arch nemesis of rival investorbois.

???? Were you alive to watch Dwyane Wade in the 2006 NBA finals? Apparently, Dwyane Wade couldn't "lead a team to a title" when he averaged practically 35,8,4, and 3.

I’ll pick Tatum because of his size and better all around game. He already cracked All NBA 1st team, and it’s not a reach to think he’ll make several All defense 1st/2nd selections with his reputation as an elite 2 way player.

He’s also in a better situation, Front office has shown they know how to build a contender through smart drafting and trades. The Celtics could realistically win a title as early as next year.

Uber athletic small guards always have the best highlight reels but their value quickly diminishes in this league, especially when they don’t have a reliable jumper.

Ja Morant already looks better, so I will say him.
