Oh man. I feel so bad for you reading about that dinged corner OP. What should have been a triumph just turned into a mess.

Both types were inserted into packs and both types have been graded by Beckett in the past

I will update everyone once I know what happens next. I’m going to talk to them this afternoon and have them grade it and then ask to refund the difference from the $155 I paid for “Express” back in July.

Update: Word from my local shop (who I submitted this through to Beckett) is that BGS does not want to admit that they are wrong here and is looking at going into the market to buy back the cards they believe were graded incorrectly.

I am at a loss here. I pulled the card myself and every bit of evidence shows that it is in fact a pack pulled card.

the card is still with beckett and I am working to continue my fight...I know that PSA would most likely grade this card but i honestly don't know if I want to sink another 100+ into grading fees and now that it has a small ding in the corner, I know I'm looking at an 8 most likely.

Unfortunately, you've simply ran into a company grading standard that effects this card. Though the foil stamp does make it different, there isn't anything about the design of the stamp that says it's an autograph like "Topps Archives Signature Series" or "Donruss Recollection" in baseball. UD screwed up and you can't blame a grading company for having a policy regarding it. They do grade the autograph though. Maybe they'll adjust fire down the line.

So BGS isn't going to grade it. My shop is going to refund me (awesome of them) and so now i am at a cross roads in regards what to do next.

I'm not trying to flip the card or anything, but the idea of the value increase of grading + the idea of having it protected is why i went that rout.

Should I leave it in the BGS slab it's in or take the $150 refund and submit to psa to grade the card?

what do you guys think. I feel like if I leave it in the slab it almost devalues that it WAS IN FACT pack pulled.

Probably reach out to PSA to make sure they will grade it first.
