Feels like Barria/Silseth are back to the BP, Herget is probably back to the minors.

Twins acquiring reliever Dylan Floro from the Marlins for reliever Jorge López.

A swap of disappointing relievers, though i'd favor Floro at this point.

As a guards fan I'm willing to see if the Guardians pitching coaches can get anything out of Syndy. Which they have a reputation for doing. Secondly I'm willing to see if Freeman or Arias or even Rocchio can hold down the position. 3rd I'm willing to see Syndy go a few innings at least and then have Curry behind him instead of blowing through the bullpen every 5th day

I mean sure the guardians have that reputation but he’s coming from the dodgers who also know how to work with pitchers. Like if Syndy came from the Rockies I’d think way differently than him coming from the dodgers. But yeah it makes sense to save the bullpen, I just figured the guards could have aimed higher for a 5th starter. Not that I’m complaining, I’m fine seeing Syndy in this division that’s for sure

Not saying it's home run of a trade, but it was pretty obvious that Rosario probably was not signing with the club in the off season. It was also obvious that Rosario's value had gone way down thanks to his defense, so the team decided to take a calculated risk. Will be interesting to see if the guards do anything else. This doesn't happen though if 3 pitchers aren't on the IL. So this one is hard to really judge because it was done out of necessity and taking chances. I will take Syndy and Curry taking games rather than burning through the bullpen. This doesn't make the team worse and has a chance to help the team for the time being so I'm ok with it. It may implode also, but that is how trades go.

Syndergaard is a guy who may or may not chew up (bad) innings for Cleveland; this trade was about getting rid of Rosario and not a whole lot else.

Syndergaard will do wonders for literacy in Cleveland.

Chris and Lambeau, makes a lot of sense.

Question for you, do you think this trade makes the guardians better for now or was this trade more so made to help the team starting 2024 and on

Cuz it seems more like “let’s figure out who can actually play SS for the future” more so than it’s “we are trying to win the division this season”

In my opinion this was to free up the spot to let Freeman and Arias play to see what you have but still attempt to compete this year with any thing you can get from Thor. to be a vet with leadership and also help save the bullpen any at all.

I get a lot of people don't like Santana but I have loved watching him play since his Cleveland days. He plays the game the right way and always hustles. He's not flashy for the newer generation of collectors. A nice pickup for Milwaukee IMO he's one of those players that doesn't get noticed but are essential for a team looking to make a push deep into the playoffs.

Robertson to Marlins. How humiliating for the mets to be sellers to the marlins.

Slamtana is a favorite in our house too. He was my wife's favorite player when he was in Cleveland. Never seems to say or do the wrong thing, and get's on base like a champ. He's a Billy Beane Moneyball wet dream

Mets just being themselves. They find new hope every offseason, and new ways to destroy their fanbases hope during the season. I truly don't know how anyone can root for them. I would be in a constant state of depression. On a bright side, at least they were smart enough to let Degrom walk. That was a step in the right direction. But one step doesn't fix it.

I'm sure it changes nothing, but the 2023 seasons for the Mets and Padres should show GM's that money doesn't buy wins.

Rosario is the worst defensive SS in baseball and has a .675 OPS. It's addition by subtraction where they took back a guy who might be able to throw a few MLB innings while they have four SP on the 60 day rather than acquiring a lottery ticket minor leaguer.

Think of the scene in Moneyball where Beane traded Carlos Pena, simply so they couldn't play him anymore.

Most Mets fans are also Jets fans so they're always in a state of constant depression. It does make for good talk radio though.

Let's face it, not everyone can be a winner.

Having spent a lot of time in New York, I know that the majority of New Yorkers are just not good enough to be Yankees/Giants fans. It's nice to know there is a subset of New Yorkers that are self-aware and know they should be hanging out with the Mets/Jets dregs.

Lambeau is spot on with addition by subtraction.

Rosario really isn't that good (but does have a pile of 3-hit games) but the Guardians are just trying to survive this season at this point. They have already stated they will limit Bibee, Allen and Williams innings wise. We just need pitchers to get us to the end of the year.

The likelihood of Quantrill, McKenzie or Bieber throwing more than 10 innings the rest of the year is slim at best.
