Default 1996 Topps Chrome Refractor Indians Team Set

I am building the 1996 Topps Chrome Refractor Indians set. Still need Murray and Baerga, but my question is this... When finished would you grade so they are slabbed or just put them in the one touches that come with a sleeve?

PSA or CGC would be the only option for grading. I've always felt these look awful in SGC slabs.

If it were me personally....definitely not slabbing them, and probably would do something like the one-touch route. Then again I couldnt care less about grading. My focus is on the cards, not slabs/labels.

It might depend on what your plans are with them. If they are just for a personal collection, dont see much a reason to slab them. If anything it would get to my OCD in that the grades will probably vary (7s, 8s, 9s, whatever) making the set more heterogeneous in appearance than just a set of refractors in toploaders or one touches. If, on, the other hand the plan is to sell them, or hold them and sell down the road, might be worth to do a cost/benefit analysis of grading them, and if it's profitable....slab them. Im not sure if it matters that much or not if a common or semi-star refractor from this set is a 9 or 10, not being a baseball collector.

I don't really get the point of paying a bunch of money to get a grade for a personal set. Seems like lighting money on fire for no purpose and I personally think cards look worse in grading cases. Too much plastic. Nerds love plastic though

My 96 TC team set is in a binder, haha. Slabbing isn't my thing at all so I could never justify the cost for grading those. It's completely a personal preference though.

Another thing to think about beforehand is if you'll be good with a mixed grade team set. I can't imagine all will grade the same.

I slabbed my 1995 Green Bay Packers Finest Refractor team set with PSA but that was back in the day of $10 grading. I slabbed my 1998 Finest Clemente Refractor set with BGS many years ago when grading was like $6 and I'm not a fan of the mixed color flips.

I'd be a lot more hesitant doing the same these days at $20 a pop.

You can always put them in one-touches for now and see how you feel about the whole thing down the line. Once they're slabbed that's it for choices.

Thanks for the input... Now I have a new dilemma...

Purchased the Ramirez a few weeks ago and then I noticed this popped up...

These certainly seem like the same exact image being used by the seller. I questioned the Jose Mesa that I received from this seller because it definitely isn't the same card that was in the listing... So now I am questioning the Ramirez and Lofton.

Although both do look centered pretty well, it's frustrating seeing a seller use what appears to be the same picture for listings.

Attached the Mesa... Am I wrong in thinking the card I received is not the card in the listing?

I got cards from this seller that have the same problem. I just contacted him to see what's up. I also think these cards are possibly sheet cut or trimmed and upon checking out his active and completed items I see he is selling all his higher dollar raw cards as lots now, which raises a whole new set of suspicions. Anyone else have any experience with this seller?

I'm eating to reach out to him as well then. Don't like hearing that.

They’re sheet cut.

For the cost of grading you could probably buy the '97 refractor Indians cards too

Ended up sending them back for a refund. Didn't deny the trimming and use of same pics. Just told me that he would offer a partial refund if I wanted to keep them and said "some of these cards being graded by PSA". Offered full refund and I took it.

It would absolutely drive me nuts if I were to have them slabbed and they were not graded with the same numerical number, but that's just my OCD.
