I didn’t check, but were the 105 post plate appearances all from 90-retirement.
The total would be 5,874. I’m not sure another player could go 15 years but to have that many opportunities without being plunked is hard to imagine.

Sierra had 1,039 plate appearances with only 1 HBP before going on his streak. 6,908 with 1 HBP, add post season 7,013 with only 1 HBP.

Jason Kendall had 7,627 plate appearances and was hit 258 times.

The longest tenure in the majors was Red Schoendist with 74 years, the next two are Connie Mack and Don Zimmer with 65 seasons each, 204 seasons.

Bobby Schantz played for Connie Mack for 2 seasons, played with Red Schoendist and pitched against Don Zimmer. Schantz is the only player to have a timeline of over 100 years (129 years) of Major League Baseball ties and continuous years within MLB, 204 years.

Sammy Sosa has the most home runs within 5 consecutive seasons with 292, 1998-2002. In those 5 seasons, Sosa never was the league leader for Slugging %.

And he hit 60+ HRs in three of those five seasons…and while he led the league in HRs twice during that span, none of his 60+ HR seasons were enough to lead the league with one of those being a 49 HR season.

Anytime a player hits that many home runs, the odds of winning a SLG % title are extremely high. To not win any while averaging 58 home runs for 5 seasons is unreal. Just seems like when he hit 49 and was the National league winner with his lowest total in that span, that it would have occurred in SLG% as well.

From 1972-1991 (20 seasons) Nolan Ryan was a league leader in at least one category in 18 of those seasons (all but 1975 & 1984). In 1985, Nolan didn’t lead the league in any pitching categories but had the most Sacrifice Hits.

The youngest player in 1966 in the National League was Charlie Vaughan. The second youngest player was Nolan Ryan. After pitching in their first game, Nolan pitched 5,384 more innings. Charlie Vaughan pitched 1 more inning, a difference of 5,383. I would guarantee that to be the biggest difference in MLB history.

In 1890, rookies Vince Dailey and Cy Young pitched their first games. After their first games, Cy Young would pitch 7347 more innings. Vince Dailey would never pitch again, a difference of 7347 innings.

The widest difference in career innings pitched between rookies of the same year is Bobby Lowe and Cy Young. They were both rookies in 1890. Bobby Lowe had a career IP of 1, while Cy Young had a career IP of 7356.

It would be a great stat if Vince Dailey didn’t play RF for 64 games while pitching 2 games for 7 innings in his rookie year 1890. He was a position player utilized as a garbage pitcher 7 innings.

The most unbelievable fact about Nolan Ryan is that there were 6 people from the Baseball Writer's Association that didn't think his career was worth a first ballot HOF vote.

Bobby Lowe played in 1821 games and in his second season he pitched 1 inning. He wasn’t a pitcher but played many positions. Back in those days, pitchers would pitch till the game ended and would pitch nearly every game.

Some elderly pitchers who dominated the same statistic for 4 years in a row past 35 years of age -
Cy Young : BB/9 & SO/W was leader in both from 1906-09 at ages 36-39.
Nolan Ryan : Strikeouts 87-90 ages 40-43.
Phil Niekro : Games Started 77-80 ages 38-41.

Willie Randolph in 1981 had 357 At Bats and 2 home runs. In the 1981 Post Season he had 50 At Bats and 3 home runs. The only player in MLB to have hit at least 2 or more regular season home runs and have more in the post season.

How tough is this - how many players have hit at least 40 home runs while batting .350 or better in the same season since 1960 ? 2 players managed to have it done 3 consecutive seasons.

Barry Bonds has done it twice during this century. Ted Williams & Mickey Mantle combined to do it ONE time in their lifetimes.

It might surprise members how many players who accomplished the feat since 1960 are currently in the Hall of Fame.

Not a surprise that two of the players did it playing half their games in pre-humidor Coors Field.

Piazza is the most impressive to me -- he was a full time catcher; crazy.

2024 will be the first season since 1957 without at least one active member of one of these clubs:

3,000 Hits

With the way things are looking, it might be several years before we get one of these again.

Norm Cash did it using a corked bat for the whole season.
