It all boils down to situation; can the Titans put Levis in a situation to win? He can only play quarterback and maybe become the franchise's leader. He can't manage the team. He can't play defense. He can't punt. Quarterbacks don't succeed alone. I bet there are 5 or 6 teams in the league that even Mahomes couldn't win with. Even Brady got his shot because of a Bledsoe injury, yet still needed Bledsoe to win a playoff game for him that same season. Levis has a chance. For as cheap as his cards are, he's a better investment than probably 75% of quarterbacks that have been drafted in rounds 1 and 2 over the past 8 years. People are losing money on most of these quarterbacks; it's part of the reason I go in on other positions also, not just quarterback. Well, keep us posted on your moves, OP. Long time collector and value loser here. From my experience I can say this: The best thing you can do is diversify between Levis, Richardson, and Stroud as evenly as possible, and mix in some other low cost rookies that have a lot of potential. Also, I have lost so much money by not holding on to cards long enough, and that means several years. Short term is no different than trying to get short term gains in the stock market. In the end you will lose playing the short game.

If you can't afford to lose definitely don't buy RBs as investments or sports cards in general, all it takes is an injury or a few bad games to start the season and down they go especially in the football. Picking up Levis isn't a bad gamble, he showed some flashes he can compete at the NFL level and its his job to lose. They've added some nice weapons to help him out.

I watched Levis last year as a Titans fan and watched him college as a Vols fan. My take on him is he has the arm and the talent to compete. One thing in college I saw and I didn't like is he gave up on his team and showed little heart. In the pro's if you do that, you won't last long. As a Titans fan I hope he is the future but I haven't invested into him yet. Doesn't mean I won't but I will keep his cards to PC. He is cheap and reasonable compared to the others in the draft from last year.

OP... Herbert is a very talented player... I've enjoyed watching him play out here in LA (other than this past season), but when you are betting on a QB you are also betting on the franchise he plays for. The Chargers are the Browns of the West Coast, but with a less passionate fan base.. Not only does Herbert have to play well, but he has to overcome the futility of the entire organization and do while playing in the same division as the Chiefs. I'm sure over his career there will be seasons they finish higher than them, or knock them out of the playoffs, but the bar to matter long term in the hobby is so high that having to contend with that each and every year just makes it all so much tougher. We're at the point now where any QB that wins a Super Bowl and isn't in their first 3 seasons gets a big "Who Cares" from the hobby. Case in point from another sport, the Jayson Tatum market right now.
