Don't forget his lack lustre defence.

Personally, I think all of the current 'offers' that have been rumoured are BS and a lot of people are going to be shocked at how low the number is. It's still going to be a very very high number, but it's not going to sniff Ohtani's $700m

The Dodgers (worth ~$4.8bil) were only able to give Ohtani (arguably the most valuable player any of us has ever seen) $700m because of the immediate and future revenue he would bring in from the Japanese market, 90% of it is deferred, AND because they were/are in a championship window. If any of those three things didn't exist, that deal doesn't happen.

Soto, on the other hand, is a very very very very good hitter.... an easy Hall of Fame path. BUT, he's not going to bring in any revenue that you can compare to the Japanese market and we're not sure if he's interested in deferrals.

The only real comparisons you can make are Mike Trout (12yr / $426m at age 27) and Aaron Judge (9yr / $360m at age 31)

I would be surprised if he gets a penny over $550m. If he does, then other owners should either start saving their money or get out of town because things are about to get expensive.

Whatever it is, and wherever it comes from, it's going to be more than what he's worth.

You might be right. But since Cohens involved I'm gonna say 630.

In other news, Baltimore is moving their right field wall IN around 20ft. Plus they are lowering it.

Those two things about Caleb Durbin are what would have me interested in him getting a chance. Strike zone discipline is very much what this team needs more of. Guys who take strike out less.

If this was our No. 9 hitter, playing second I guess, with good defense (I have no idea about his D) I wouldn't mind that. Turn the lineup over more often than not for hopefully a top of the order with Soto/Judge

I wonder if now that Durbin is on the 40-man roster if Topps is looking at a rookie card for him in Series 2 next year.

If we don't re-sign Soto he doesn't have a prayer of even making the OD roster. He will most likely start at AAA and we'll see how he does.

So, who do you think is going to play second unless they move Jazz back there. I believe I read the Yankees have already said Soto or no Soto they aren't pursuing Torres again.

Personally, I don't think he's played enough in the minors to earn the starting 2B job.

Yeah I agree, the "Yankee Way" is to get a full season in AAA , I think that's Durbins path. They will sign a stop gap or move Jazz back. I really think they should move Jazz there I am nervous about him at 3B every day

He's smoking weed which I'm pretty sure is still illegal in Florida. But all I said was he was having a good time which he is.

I would hate to rush him and then he becomes Volpe Jr.

Can we please get rid of that idiot Michael Kay? The same idiot who blasted Soto for getting Hal to come to LA to a meeting is defending Manfred "trying to juice the game" with his dumb golden bat idea. Kay has become a huge embarrassment to the Yankees organization.

Yup in a time where real prospects go from AA to the majors and AAA is a Crash Davis wasteland, the Yankees continue to "develop" players at AAA.
