Default "Breaks" vs CT scans
I wonder why people still interested in "Breaks" if we know all boxes/packs could have been CT scanned and pull nothing out of them.

I laughed more than I should at this probably because the visual of some guy walking up to a hospital ER clutching a box of Bowman Chrome was so ridiculous!

It's been a month since 2024 TCU was released, and the Skenes 1/1 Debut patch hasn't been pulled yet. Is this just a coincidence? Or is there some CT shenanigans going on?

There is an article in the Athletic about it. Some place doing it as a side gig. I guess they are doing pretty well. Interesting for sure. I don’t see it being feasible except for really expensive boxes.

I’ve been wondering about this tbh. I work in hospital admin and I could easily bring this to the attention of the Imaging director. I could pull this off if I really wanted to.

To show you how much I’ve considered this, I’ll let you know that I wouldn’t use the big room CT Scanner. I’d use the c-arm that plugs into the wall. Me and my imaging manager pal at my old facility did this with a pencil once.

It’s not that far fetched.

I believe I read the same article. Some place in Michigan if I remember correctly and they charge $650 to scan the box. Seems like only a problem for really high end products like Flawless or Transcendent.

There was a youtube video months ago about some guy buying a broken scanner cheap, fixing it in 3 months, and then scanning pokemon packs. Someone on reddit said it was a smaller scanner used for research. My hunch is that this has been going on for a while.

Not at all. Quality control is very necessary. You have to log that unit daily for QC checks anyway.

And like the post above says, they can be repaired with a little know how. It wouldn’t be a bad endeavor while there’s a market for it.
