What do you keep mentioning Mike Trout regarding Giancarlo? It's bizarre and weird.
Another BIG FLY, but this one only went 385. That put him in the Top 10 in ALL TIME Post Season Home Runs with 18 in 40 games. N. Cruz needed 50 for 18 and he was the lowest in the top 10.
Springer had 19 in 67 games, lowest at 19.

If It don’t mention his name in October he sure as heck isn’t going to be mentioned at all. Has anyone seen his thread in October? It’s the only way to keep him relevant at this time of the year, and that isn’t weird it’s extremely common.

Huh? There was 21 posts in this thread during the month October before you posted.

Post #161 was on Oct 14th.

Your first Oct post was #182 on Oct 19th.

Don’t mind having you around, but to be honest, this thread is doing just fine without you. There’s a lot of people here posting some really awesome cards, and having Giancarlo discussions that don’t involve whatever it is you and rfgilles are talking about.

If the Yankees take this series and he keeps this pace, he could claim another MVP. Unlike other members who have been attempting to claim that Post Season performances are not important, they are. I’m hoping he can break the all time record of 29 set by Manny Ramirez. It will take a few more seasons but Stanton’s play is off the charts.

He is talking about Mike Trout, why I have no idea. My apologies MiamiMarlinsFan for adding fire to the flame here.

Ah, my bad. I haven’t been following it too closely.

If you’re enjoying the conversation with Stifle, go for it. I was just chiming in because I misunderstood the post. I was like, “We’ve been having a great time over here all October!” Haha

I'm wondering if it time to move my 2010 Topps Chrome Auto that I pulled so long ago (was of the first autos I ever pulled and has sat in my PC ever since and being a Yankee helps it stay in the PC)

Happy for Giancarlo: He played great and was not the reason the Yankees lost.

Yep... disappointing he didn't get his 'ship as a Yankee, but nobody's sitting here at a keyboard today saying he choked and cost the Yankees their shot.

Hell of a run hitting 7 home runs driving in 16 runs in 14 playoff games.

For all those in Stanton gets to 500 HRs camp, he currently has 0 in 2025.

Yeah, I’m in that camp, but my faith has been wavering lately…

Wonder if he can even swing a bat yet.

Latest update from Sunday:

Stanton (elbows) has been taking at-bats at the Yankees' complex in Tampa, but manager Aaron Boone said the slugger is not likely to be ready to come off the injured list next week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

I still think he limps his way to 500 on the Marlins after his Yankee deal expires, ala Ichiro and his 3000th hit. Of course, that assumes he wants to reach 500. He may just say he’s tired of getting his body ready and hang it up when the Yankees deal is over.

I wish he would do that now. I can't see him helping thos offense much other than a home run here or there. I see him hurting the offense since he hits into a lot of double plays and he slows down everyone behind him on the basepaths. If they could just put him on the post season roster, it would be better.

Sadly. IF this guy could've stayed healthy 700 Homer's would have been easy peasy.

At this point I don't think its physical. The man seems to only want to play half a season. Then again, we've only seen Mike Trout for less than 55 games the last 4 of 6 seasons, so maybe he's on to something.

I have been on record stating Stanton wouldn't get to 500 HRs. I thought he was done, but he has had a career resurgence and is raking, pretty much since the playoffs last year.

Wasn't expecting this production this year.

He has 2 guaranteed years left on his contract, then a club option for $15M which the Yanks could actually pick up if he's still slugging decently. Let's make a modest assumption he ends this season with 450 HRs (so needs 9 more). If he plays 3 more seasons, he would need to average 17 HRs the next 3 years. Even if he only plays ~80 games a season, that is still well within reach for him.

Honestly, the biggest obstacle to him reaching 500 HRs may not be his health, but a potential extended lockout in 2027 where a portion (or all) of the season is lost.

I've mentioned this before, since 2021 his AB/HR each season has been:

21: 14.6
22: 12.8
23: 15.5
24: 15.4
25: 11.7

Consistently at the 15ish ABs per HR. With 59 more to go, even at a rate of 15.5 ABs per HR, which is higher than the 5 year average of 14.2, he needs just 915 ABs to get there.

He's been averaging just about 400 ABs over the last 3 years (won't get there this year). So the only question is if he can get 2.5ish healthy seasons the rest of the way.
