That price increase they just announced is not going to work well for them. They may have just had a 471% submission increase (per their release), but requiring a 20 card sub at $15/card or $25/card won’t fly. They’ll be back down to hundred’s a week in a month at those prices.

But hey, if you want to give them $150/card, they’ll now take a 360° video of your card before they send it back to you LOL

To Our Valued Collectors and Supporters,

TAG’s mission is to provide card grading with the highest level of detail, transparency, and consistency. We are humbled by the overwhelming demand which has exceeded our short-term strategic plans and reinforced what we believe is the market’s acceptance and support of our efforts.

Over the last 30 days, daily customer submissions surged by an unprecedented 471% compared to the previous month, creating the need for more space, more equipment, and more people. While we anticipated growth, this level of market adoption has far exceeded expectations. To meet demand and increase our monthly grading output, we are making substantial investments in our growth—we are ordering up to $500,000 in additional equipment, hiring 30 new team members, and securing more real estate. Please accept our apologies in advance for any delays that may occur as a result of this growth period.

Nice that you edited out the rest of that release, where they discuss price increases, minimum order limits, and pauses on S grading.

Didn't HGA expand quickly when PSA was having problems keeping up? Now with CGC and PSA grading 1 million Pokemon cards a month, there is an opening. Wonder how this will end up once PSA gets times back under control and offers a special.

Didn't edit out anything, the link is there, which is more than you provided.

It sounds like you really harassed the TAG customer service and are bent out of shape.

It was a few years back when the BO pundits were stating the window for TAG to come to market had passed...

TAG is definitely sitting pretty in the midst of this massive Pokemon boom. They are already feeling the crunch and having to increase their TAT. If they can navigate this, they may be able to get a foothold of demand for their slabs.

I wonder how this will affect their ability to deliver on the assurances they’ve made to being able to grade thick cards, mem cards and the pods.

This is their chance, but it is only for TCG. Sports cards have way to much variance for pods and I think they have given up on thick cards and pre-1989. The Pokémon crowd is young enough to not have complete devotion to PSA/CGC.

The one thing for TAG is if this Pokémon boom is sustainable and will continue to be larger than the entire sportscard grading hobby. PSA/SGC/CGC/BGS graded 885,000 sports cards in February and PSA/SGC/CGC/BGS graded 1,049,000 TCG. Insane numbers and it hurts my head thinking about this.

"It’s one of the most wild astroturfing campaigns I’ve seen in trading cards." 2/18

"It’s wild and pathetic to see TAG engaging in such a deceptive and unethical marketing campaign."
2/19

"This is getting towards the level of complete fraud."
2/22

You nailed these.

The hobby was mainly sports cards. The market did pass for sports cards. No one, including yourself, could have predicted the insanity for grading TCG right now. However, I guess you will pat yourself on the back for this.

Around 8 million TCG cards were graded in 2023 and 2024. We now have had a 50% explosion in this market.

How am I wrong? TAG started grading thicker cards than 50 pt? When did this happen?

TAG is grading sports cards including Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Soccer, UFC, Racing, Golf, Tennis, Boxing, Extreme Sports, Wrestling, and Multi-Sport. The cards must be standard sized, 2.5" x 3.5". The cards must be from the year 1989 - Present and can be no thicker than 50pt Stock. TAG is currently focusing on modern era but will be moving back in time as capacity allows. TAG is accepting pack-pulled autographed cards. TAG is not grading Die-Cut, Lenticular, Acetate, Sketch Cards, Printing Plates or Memorabilia cards at this time.

I'm not really patting myself on the back, just taking pleasure in the BO Pundits being dead wrong.

They have on their website it is coming soon. When that will be, who knows.

I will take their word over "feeling that they have given up on thick cards. "

That has been on their site for over 2 years. I guess TAG's definition of "soon" is measured in decades.

The boom is likely not sustainable. Prices are getting completely out of touch and new sets are unattainable for most collectors. TPC doesn’t have an answer for bots yet, but we’ll see how their queue holds up with the Prismatic Super Premium drop.

There’s also a massive bubble right now in Pokemon in regard to singles prices. There is a ton of market manipulation going on that isn’t sustainable. Not to mention the market manipulation happening with TAG slabs.

I think the one thing that will surface quickly is the demand for TAG slabs is going to be strongly outpaced by the amount of slabs hitting the market.

Yes a 42% increase in a week's time. The most successful astroturf campaign in the history of TCG card grading.

At least you’re acknowledging it was an astroturfing campaign.

Supply/demand always wins out. The flippers will flip TAG slabs to each other for awhile, which will keep prices stable for a bit. The question is if there will be enough collectors wanting TAG slabs for their PC?

I think the majority of TAG PC collectors want the 1000 point scale, since it is their form of the PSA Registry. Without this collecting aspect, these slabs won't be as desirable from a collectors point of view. The CGC registry even brings some high prices. I have a lot of vintage top pops on CGC that have sold for really good money.

I have no idea what I am talking about according to the resident TAG shill, but I have said many times before that the people using TAG are more closely alligned to NFT's than collecting cards. People like below are showing up to the party, which shows why the Discord channels are exploding.

https://x.com/dachshundwizard
https://x.com/NFT1nsight/status/1895491321760199007

The wealthy crypto/NFT crowd knows how to pump and dump. The same characters are showing up with TAG. This won't end well for TAG and the collectors.

This popped up and has crypto/NFT people involved. The PUMP is real. TAG to the Moon. Rocketships and stock trending up emojis are going to be prevalent again!
