Man, I don’t know about this one. The rise is questionable and seems artificial. If the price escalation is truly organic then 90’s grails such as 97 Jambalaya, Ultra Stars Gold to name a couple should also see massive spikes.

Seems like it’s focused mainly on Patch Autos on both players and MJ Bulls Auto (96 SPX NNO). Then again, my scope is quite small compared to the hobby as these were the only items I’ve been tracking.

Personally, I've been a part of some of the largest deals since 2021-22 over the last 6 months. One card in particular that I was trying to sell for $15k over a year ago, that I got $40k for this year. Another card that probably would have done $20k (but I wasn't selling), that I finally got $50k for. Several times I've taken lots to the guys at Burbank cards and gotten cash outs in the $5-9k range each time at pretty good comps.

There's a bit of an eco-system reappearing after the PWCC crash and it's fallout.

Now maybe you're right that there could be some manipulation in certain pockets. We've seen it before with guys like MJ, Trae, and by my guess, a lot of prospects in baseball year after year. But a whole lot of what's going on is real

Everyone remembers Blowout posts from 2021 gloating about sportscards collections turning into million dollar collections overnight. Here we are in 2025 and it feels familiar. Seems like we are heading in that direction again in 2025.

We are seeing spikes in Jambalaya and USG and game jersey autos. We are seeing perhaps even bigger increases percentage-wise for more run of the mill 90s inserts.

Come on, you gotta give us more details. What did you move? At least the player/set.

Btw, how's dealing with Burbank? They are a little far but figured it might be worth the drive based on their prices.

I think you're pretty safe buying MJ and Kobe right now.

That stuff will only continue to rise.

Lebron is cheap but has a ton of supply and is bringing more Autos out.

Where it gets scary is the $1k Autos of dudes that will fade out when new stars emerge.

Panini will be dumping some more products on the way out and then Fanatics will ramp up and want a lot of market share.

Great time to move on from your singles of borderline guys.

Fanatics will want to get some quality products out at some point. There is just a ton of money around and I doubt it will go away. Just a rich get richer scenario really.

I still think Autos are way overpriced.

Curious on what ppls consensus on mid end Kobe is? I have a Kobe 03-04 SPGU authentic fabric auto BSG 9 auto 10. Would I expect a jump in price in the future?

Nobody will have any expendable income left for cards.

Collect, don’t invest.

Burbank is great. If you have decent quality stuff they'll give you very fair cash offers right away. If you are delusional and are using 2021 comps for Zion cards, you'll be out of luck. But for a quick cash in that's pretty comparable to what you might get on eBay, without the hassle and without the risk that your auction will just perform terribly, they are a great place to go to.

A whole hell of a lot more for any households with that own stocks or 401ks.

Then just wait for the layoffs if these don't get lifted soon.

For sure. I haven't even wanted to look at how much value has been wiped out. I doubt it impacts ultra high end because the turbo rich aren't impacted by this stuff, but a whole lot of people are gonna be less likely to buy pallets worth of pokemon/prizm blasters from Costco raiding scalpers I bet.

It'll take a while to have any impact. Prices on good aren't up today. People are getting laid off en masse at the moment. I wouldn't even be surprised if for a time, more people are trying to hustle and flip cards. Heck, a lot of us thought 2020 would be the end of the run in prices, but it was really just the beginning. There are a variety of curve balls that we don't know are coming.

For collecting purposes, it's a great time to get rid of the chaff of a collecting, IMO... which I've been doing for a while anyways. I'll hold onto the best stuff that won't get undercut if it gets ugly out there.

Unfortunate that most Americans buy things based on how their retirement and other investment accounts do instead of how much financial flexibility they actually have.

If Walmart was selling 10% off everything people would be lining up for hours on end to raid the store. When the stock market is 10% off everything, people act like its the end of the world.

Idk.. S&P is off 10% and I'd say most people are still living their day to day going to work, going on vacations, spending $11 on McDonalds....

I'd say lining up for hours to get essential goods at Walmart is acting a whole lot more like it's the end of the world that what people are doing right now.
