One thing is for certain -- there is going to be outrage for the side who doesn't win. Both candidates are deserving.

Yes most valuable not best hitter again don’t worry judge will win the Hank Aaron award

Nor does it say the highest adjusted OPS+. It says "Valuable" which is left to the voter to determine. To me, a gold/platinum glove catcher that hits 60 HRs in a non-hitters ballpark and leads his team to the post season gets it for me. As does the guy that hits 50 HRs and strikes out 11.8 batters per 9 innings. Being just a really great hitter is soooooooooo 1950s.

Judge leads in hitting by 13pts, obp by 63pts and slg by 83 pts. I think people are just numb to how good he is.

To really break BO, hopefully if Raleigh breaks the HR record he does it against Ohtani.

FWIW, Keith Law said he would vote Judge as MVP, and Raleigh is actually closer to Witt Jr for 3rd than Judge for 1st.
But he doesn't have a vote for MVP this year.

Yeah and Jeff passan and John morrisii both said they would vote Cal

What do all three have in common though? None of them have a vote this year

I don't know where this platinum nonsense comes from, lets go to baseball savant.

Blocks above avg he's 55th
CS above avg he's 18th
Catcher Framing Runs (whatever that is) he's 6th
2nd base pop time he's 50th

He's nowhere near the best def catcher

For Judge he's 11th in outs above avg.

Well that's because no one that has a vote this year can say how they voted/will vote for MVP yet.

Platinum comes from him winning the award last year.

Weird take to mention pop up times and not mention the numbers that show how great he is. Almost like you have a bias!

Why do people mention what Raleigh (or anyone else) did in previous years like it has any bearing on this year's awards? Chris Davis hit 53 HRs in 2013....does that mean he deserves a pity vote for MVP this year?

Judge hit 62 3 years ago, does that give him a couple bonus points for this year's vote or something?

I don't think it has bearing as much as to acknowledge he's a GREAT defensive player.

I mean, look at all the people in this thread who want to totally want to ignore defense in a MVP discussion, it's relevant though no reason to vote or not vote for him.

That's because Judgeheads are in panic mode after Cal reached 60 last night.

86th% in fielding run value

It's on Baseball Savant's page.

I said he was 6th in framing, that's consistent with your percentile.

Time to put the house on Judge since it seems like such a no-brainer...

He's 11th percentile in blocks which is also consistent with what I said.

Judge has more intentional walks this season than every other team not named the Yankees. Dodgers are 2nd most in intentional walks with a combined 33.

It's what every Cal homer has been saying here and on Facebook to make the argument he's better than Judge on defense and thus deserves the MVP.

So if you think Cal deserves MVP it makes you a homer?

The only reason I'd call you a homer is because you are (you're a Yankees/Judge fan). Any person that thinks Judge should win MVP isn't automatically a homer though, as has been mentioned this feels like a relative toss up on who wins and I certainly won't have issue with whoever wins, I just personally think it should be Cal.
