Cal is good at some things and bad at other things as a catcher so bit of a mixed bag.
I don't know why you keep ignoring fielding run value but want to push pop up times.....

Also from fangraphs he's 16.4 runs above average for fielding above average which is 5th overall for catchers. Let's save the talk that he isn't great defensively. He's not a world beater popping up to throw out runners. The horror!

I'm coming around to Raleigh winning it.

As I look back, it reminds me of the 1961 season when Maris (breaking the record) won it over a more deserving Mantle.

He's 8th overall for mlb and his value of 7 is as far from Kirk as Francisco Alvarez is from him. I'm not saying he's a bad catcher, I'm saying its a bit of mixed bag and he clearly should not be winning the gold/platinum/whatever material you want to make it out of glove. Judge is 78th percentile for fielding run value. Its not like he's Soto out there.

That vote was a lot closer than I thought. Total points was 202 to 198.

Just because you don't want to believe the statistics provided doesn't mean it's not true. Just like I admitted early on, I wasn't a defensive stats guy and was just looking up some defensive stats to disprove the platinum glove this year arguments. Others have provided many more stats and rankings to disprove people's thoughts.

Well, Boston is the most educated baseball town, so you're probably right. Because Raleigh deserves it.

I hear it's just a college town with a fishing pier.

I actually don't hate this idea. Is a split vote possible?

I don't consider a Platinum Glove to be an award worth using to determine someone's value being greater.

Quote:
The Rawlings Platinum Glove Award is determined by a combination of international fan voting and an adjusted SABR Defensive Index (SDI), which uses sabermetrics to evaluate defensive performance
Anything that includes a fan vote isn't a metric to say he was the best defensive player. Gold Glove catcher is fine. But Platinum Glove includes a popularity contest

What is criteria for co-MVP? Equal # of votes for both?

I think you may not quite understand how gold glove winners are chosen.

An historic record no less. Just broke the tie with Ted Williams for most intentional walks in the American League.
