And you need a backup that can win in this league.

I'm not trading Mac to the Browns or Raiders or whoever for anything if he's under contract. It's invaluable to have someone who can win games while your starter is hurt. What the Bengals wouldn't give for a semi-competent backup right now.

Eagles don't win their first Super Bowl without Nick Foles as their backup.

Eagles draft Hurts in the 2nd round 2020 and eventually win SB59 despite Wentz playing well at the time because of the importance of having a good backup.

So important. 49ers have a backup chode like Cincy and they're 1-4 instead of 4-1.

I wouldn't say that. That's why you play the games.

If it was all based on paper and stats, it would have been the Lions v. Bills last year.

Both those teams watched the Super Bowl on TV instead.

With Purdy JUST getting that contract, that'll make it tough to move on right away, production or not.

Personally, I'm not there with Mac Jones yet, but the next 3-4 weeks could play out that way. I believe the niners have a very late bye as well. They'll be in Tampa next week. I wonder if Purdy gets the nod or not.
