Default What's this Troy Aikman auto from?

I thought this might be an Archives or '99 Topps Buyback card, but I don't see anything on any checklist and there's no stamp or foiling indicating as such. Assuming the serial number (/1899) is legit, what could it be from? Could it have come out of a Leaf buyback product?

Thanks in advance.

I don’t know where it’s from, but that’s a beautiful auto

Looks like it's from Ken Goldin's father.

Is it legitimate?

Was The Score Board a trusted company?

Where is there a serial number? Anyone can write the numbers on top.

I would never trust anyone associated with the last name Goldin. Biggest crooks in cards.

Everything about that auto seems "off" to me

Here's one of my autos from Upper Deck, signed in 2011/2012. This is authenticated and real.

The one in this thread, was a Scoreboard Goldin auto from the early 1990's. Troy was still a young pup. And Scoreboard had him exclusively if I recall.

I think that exact card, numbered to 1989, was sold via one of the home shopping networks back then.

His auto from 1992 was a lot cleaner and slower than his auto 20 years later, post retirement, like yours.

I am an Old Head. Scoreboard stuff was legit. But the Scoreboard COA's were widely faked. As the original ones were easy to reproduce on a copier.

Well alright then. I know autographs change over time, just look at Ohtani's now versus his earlier autographs. Doesn't even look similar!

If this Aikman looks legit, then good enough for me!

Great idea by Score Card but should have had him sign his Score RC.

Aikman seems to sign a ton.

they went bankrupt after putting out a bunch of redemptions and left everyone holding the bag. Still Owed a Garnett, Kobe, Ki Jana Carter among others. Guy was a crook. Alot of forgeries now because their COA was so poor

Score was only 2 years old when they released 1989 football. It was a much, much smaller print run than Topps. Which is why Score football cards sell for so much more money now.

Back when these were being signed, I bet they cold have found 50 copies of his Topps RC for every 1 from Score.

Topps were cheaper and more plentiful. And honestly, more popular at the time. So it made sense.

Paul Goldin was Scoreboard. His son Ken Goldin was just along for the ride at the time. Paul died in 1994, when Scoreboard posted a profit of +$10MIL

In 1995 without Paul, they posted a loss of -$35MIL

It was a combo of bad leadership without Paul. Upper Deck starting UDA in 1992, and their 5-Step Authentication Process becoming the gold standard in a hobby now filled with fakes during the boom. And that same boom starting to go bust by the late 1990s.

He screwed all of his customers big time also. I was one of the ones that had a bunch of the redemptions.

I have a Steve Young like this with the numbering in the same hand writing. Mine is still in that bulky case that had a red plastic base. I can definitely see why many people took the cards out of those things…

Those bricks were the bomb back in the day! How else would you know if a card was important or not. If it was in a 3 pound acrylic brick, it had to be!
