Panini replacement for my Ja Morant Contenders Veteran Ticket redemption

So I posted a 21-22 Contenders Hobby box break about 3 years ago. I pulled a Ja Morant Veteran Ticket premium autograph. It was the chromium version. Earlier this year I requested a replacement. I specified that whatever the replacement was it still had to be a Ja auto. I did not care about product year or brand. I thought they could fulfill that given all the Ja Morant autos I saw that were available in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

That did not happen. Instead they sent as a replacement at Shai-Gilgeous Alexander 18-19 Donruss Optic Signatures prizm parallel on card autograph. I looked up this card on eBay and the non-prizm version of this card is a sticker auto. Shai must have signed a bunch of these prizm versions for Panini.

Never pulled a Morant auto before and was hoping for that instead. On the plus side Shai did win his first championship in June. Had I gotten this as a replacement last year prior to his playoff success probably would not have been too happy.

Do you think the Shai was a fair replacement for the Ja?

Yes I think an auto of the reigning league MVP is a suitable replacement.

The Ja is a $200 card.

The SGA is a $400+ card.

I think the math shows that you won.

Go trade the SGA for two optic contenders Ja autos if you wish.

Shai sold for $738 through Dcsports recently.

Was OP joking with this post asking if it was "fair" to upgrade from a $150 ($200 at best since that's what /25 Prizm version sold for recently) card to a $700 card?

To be more accurate, there are multiple $699 BIN auctions just sitting there not being taken, so the card is “worth” less than $738, but still much more than the Morant.

If that’s the case, then my bad. Many scans on eBay you can’t tell if it’s a base or refractor parallel.

Either is worth more than the Ja.

I talked to them a few time before the October 1 license transition. Still hoping they would replace with a Morant. Seeing that he signed for other sets.
