Cosmic chrome, for example, I think is a great product, even at the price point. Heritage high is usually a great release at current prices. I think when it comes to high demand limited products, the release methods usually attract criticism, just as with anything that is in very high demand and expensive. My commentary is specifically aimed at Fanatics business cunning and the investor boi sheep, with the associating price manipulation that takes advantage of the compulsive degenerates that come with the culture. It is a sad state of the hobby when it feels like 90% of the people who win the dutch auctions are doing so to resell their sealed boxes, either to breakers or to actually break for someone else.
What ever happened to being happy with the honor of purchasing a box to enjoy opening it and collecting the cards? |

It seems Topps allowed cancellations. So, on a modified Dutch auction — which decreases in price over time — buyers simply canceled their purchase when prices dropped and rebought at the now lower price. That’s one of the crazier things Topps has allowed. Do we think they’ll fix that moving forward?

If you were a company and could maximize what your product sells with little to no effort, while realizing all the profit before dumping it to consumers and eliminating middle men along the way....... Wouldn't you?
Thats what Dutch auctions does. Remember this is somewhat a hobby and the rest is all business. The sneaker head storage unit flipboi world has taken over. Why has that happened? Breakers is why. When you can sell spots at any number it doesn't matter what its bought for. Social media pumping the next bounty and tracking the craze fuels the FOMO. Gambling endorphin addicts will continue to pony up for the next chase and bounty. The reasonable acquisition of products at reasonable prices is gone. Unless you own or know someone who owns a hobby shop you will be SOL when it comes to buying. They 10x'd the hobby alright. Just on the price side.... Flippers have always existed. Nothing wrong with what they do. The gambling is the problem... without the police going into debt to chase the next big bounty box flipping wouldnt exist. This goes back to the covid window. Everything was attainable prior to covid.. you could 17' 18' and 19' product at will. Then everything shutdown. And people were at home with no place to gamble and that is when breaking exploded. Everything is still available- at 10x the cost - and yes, the degenerate gambler culture AND the box flippa bois are to blame. I know this isn’t a popular response, but the appearance is that the vast majority of current hobbyists participating in the Dutch auctions fall in either one of these categories.
