Pirates pitcher Al McBean and a firefighter on Opening Day, Forbes Field, April 12, 1965. McBean was named the Sporting News National League Fireman of the Year in 1964. McBean was a Pirate from 1961 to 1968 and again in 1970.

James ‘Nixey’ Callahan threw the first no-hitter in American League history on Sept. 20, 1902 against the Detroit Tigers. Also, he is the only pitcher to have five hits in a game three times.
Callahan passed away in 1934 at the age of 60.
