I’ve contemplated bailing on this several times. The same 5-6 teams over and over is frustrating. On the bright side, they’ll run out of players for those teams soon. I’m going to stick with it through card 100. Mostly because my son really enjoys getting them in the mail every week. If things don’t improve by then, I’ll just give him a $15 raise in his allowance and be done with it.

I stopped after 50 unless there was a Liverpool player (which means I stopped at 54).

Will just buy Liverpool players from now on and possible legends from other clubs if they are start doing them.

Living in Canada, it cost almost double each week because of the shipping, even with the discount.

I wondered about this, but my hasty conclusion is that they didn't do these because they already did Topps Now UCL cards for matchday 1 and 2.

Frankly, their timing and their communication are both terrible. I mean, they also make Topps NOW MLS, but only for the first couple months of the season? That makes no sense, and I've seen no explanation for it.

Topps cards are fun, but the rest of their customer-facing business needs work. Can you imagine how many they'd sell if they were actually trying?

Yep, big drop. It’s only the start.
Big names will do good, once they come up. I’d say these current numbers will be it moving forward, maybe 150 on some.

It looks like the PR #'s have been holding steady at around 200 for the last few weeks despite uninspiring offerings. This set needs something to bring new life into it.

I think they're trying to kill the set by populating it with mediocrities nobody has even heard of.

Don't forget: this is a UCL set, so they can only choose from the 32 teams in the competition, right? And who do you want from Brugges or Galatasary or Genk or Olympiakas or Shaktar Donetsk? Or maybe you're waiting for all those stars from Crvena Zvezda?

Three cards a week for a year is about 150 cards...could you come up with 150 players worthy of cards from these teams? This was not well planned. Unless they're going to do 5 players from every team, they're going to end up with the first XI from most of the group leaders, which frankly is a lot of filler, plus MORE filler from teams like Dynamo Zagreb or Zenit.

Do the math. At three cards per week, this set is going to kill itself.

Yes, of course, I would love to see retired superstars in this set. How about Ricardo Zamora or Paulino Alcantara at Barca? Maradona with Napoli? Eusebio with Benfica! Hell, even Cruyff with Ajax. This could be fun...

I'm not convinced that they can even issue cards of retired players. The retired players that they have used are all coaching now. I think their contract for UCL cards is very limited. It's just enough for them to issue a set and be in the soccer game. Now, if panini did a living set it could be epic.
